As a rocket fan, I completely understand why T-Mac gets so much hate and Yao doesn't. Sure, I hate the fact that Yao can't stay on the floor, and I think we definitely need to consider other options in terms of Yao's future with the Rockets. But he pours his heart and soul into this team, this cannot be denied. Can the same be said about T-Mac? Don't get me wrong, I want T-Mac to buy in and help this team win games, but after all the crap he pulled last year, I really don't think it's possible. But for those of you who are gettin on DD's case for his history of T-Mac bashing, can you really blame him?
You can develop players in the process of winning games. We have proven that over the last few years and its paying off now. Yeh, the goal is a championship, but how do you do that? You have to be focused on winning every game you play. Everything else takes care of itself. If you start thinking too far ahead youre going to lose sight of whats really important and thats developing a winning culture.
Ok, let me change it up. Lets say TMAC is all selfish and whatever people say. The Rockets new this before they signed him years ago... this wasnt like he changed when he got to houston. He's always been the same for everyteam and the rockets knew that. So if you want to blame anyone for tmac being this way, blame the team that signed him knowing who they were getting......
Dont trade him. I hope the Rockets keep Tmac on the bench so that he can watch his team advance to the second round yet again from the sideline. Let him come in the game for last 2 minutes to relieve Dorsey if we have a 40 point lead in the 4th quarter. If he refuses, slap him with some fine.
But if they both can get along for 6 months, it would benefit this season, and I think that T-Mac is not re-signed. I would never give into the demands of a player if T-Mac says it is either him or Adelman.
It's not about that DD Sorry but it has to do with the Rockets wanting to be sure McGrady is still able to be elite and the insurance issue. If the team was tanking badly and the attendance reflected it TMac would have already played this season. Facts are the team is doing well, nice chemistry, and the Rockets have insurance on McGrady. They aren't going to let him play in my opinion unless he is ready to be a dominant player, and play healthy I think it is obvious the insurance and the 41 day period plays in. I think it is also obvious that when TMac comes back there will be adjustment if not some disruption. But frankly if TMac is 100% healthy and playing up to mad skills of 3 years ago then if Adelman can't fit him on this team he shouldn't be coaching. Don't worry about Adelman he is a very good coach and he will find the right role for TMac without hurting the chemistry TMac might try to butt heads for ego's sake but I know he is all about winning and he is willing to sacrifice his game to win. He did everything but kiss Van Gundy's a** to adapt so the team could win Let's wait and see how well he plays when he hits the court. The only other factor is Morey might have a possible deal he really likes working... other than that this team is much better if TMac is healthy and explosive
Honestly this is not your best thread, but I have to say that I go with building for the future. Not Adelman or McGrady, but rather Brooks, Landry, and the rest of the guys who deserve the best. As far as I'm concerned neither Adelman nor McGrady will be a part of this team in two, maybe three years tops, but I want to see guys like Hayes and Landry retire Rockets.
Real nice DD. Keep trying to hide why you maid this thread . In every reply that you posted about T-Mac you have said that we need to trade him now for our young players...blah blah... Some People came against you and your still don't see what there saying. Now this is a failed attempt at trying to prove to everyone that your right by putting out an uneven poll. Everyone here is a Rockets fan. OFCOARSE they are gonna go with Rick (the coach/team) and not T-Mac (one player who people want to see gone) Why do you think that T-Mac can't play in Ricks system? Your making like either T-Mac plays or Rick prevales. Heres my question to you. Have you seen the man play a single minute in this 09-10 season? Give him a damn chance to prove he can play (fit and run) in this style. Why do you see it in only one way that if T-Mac plays he is going to ruin all the development this teams is making and all the success of the young guys? He isn't going to play 48 minutes a night. Give the man a brake. He worked his behind off the whole summer committing to comeback and play. The least the organization and fans could do is give him some minutes to prove he can play in this offense.
I don't believe that for a second. McGrady would be subtraction by addition. The current squad will win more games without him and it isn't even close.
Because he has had ample opportunity to play within the system and he either can't or chooses not to. The poll question is off. It should pit the Rockets we have against a half-court Rockets team led by McGrady. The McGrady led team would be in the cellar in today's league. It's the chemistry and the system that have the team in the running for 6th seed or so. Add McGrady and kiss the chemistry and the system goodbye. I'm not a McGrady hater though. I just don't think he's a good fit for this team. I think, in fairness to him, we should be aggressively pursuing a trade so that he can play somewhere if he's truly healthy.
it's time to change channel. Drama queen for the lose. how many episodes already? fell like insult to current team. we still pay attention to what he say and do.
I don't understand, if McGrady is healthy right now, he will play great in the system. He will run off screens (He did when he was healthy early 07-08 season).
A thread created where obviously everyone knows the answer is going to be the coach considering how much hate McGrady gets from "fans" on this site. Way to go veteran poster
Exactly. When RA first coached this team and we got off to that terrific start no one was complaining. Now all of a sudden a guy is hurt the team struggled and everyone is calling him a cancer. Boy what it takes to be a fan.
