This is insurance fraud... what else is this... "oh they are just trying to save money"... who is giving them this money? the insurance company...
This is the Rockets organization being extra paranoid of a player who kept saying "I'm back" "No I'm not" for all of last season. I mean, really, are 35% of our fans goldfishes or something?
I'm sure the insurance aspect is something the Rockets are very aware of, but since none of us know the real deal with Tracy's knee there is know way for us to know. Maybe after Monday they'll decide he still needs another month
Yes. The Rockets, an NBA franchise, forever in the public eye is openly committing insurance fraud. The insurance company insuring them just never turns on the TV, reads the papers or follows up on multi-million dollar claims. Get real.
Why wasn't the MRI scheduled for the start of training camp. Why did the timberwolves do the crap that they did. I know teams will find ways to cheat.
When discussing this situation, one needs to look back to the Portland Trailblazers of 2008-2009. Kevin Prichard, the General Manager of the Portland Trailblazers, was very obvious in his desires to collect insurence payouts for Dareus Miles.
A person with knowledge of NBA insurance policies said that insurance has been paying McGrady's salary since last season. The Rockets have said that doctors chose Nov. 23 for McGrady's MRI based on the time doctors believed he would need following the surgery and the team's practice schedule. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6731426.html
T-mac screwed management over last season by declaring surgery before the trade deadline, now it's management's turn to screw T-mac over this season. I have a feeling management and coach aren't really looking for T-mac to come back. Asked to stay away from the team Pacers - Jamaal Tinsley style.
Wow. You do understand insurance fraud is a felony and carries prison time? Do you also understand that insurance companies do heavy, heavy investigating before paying out claims? Now use your head and tell me how an NBA team could ever think they could get away with committing insurance fraud? Does it make more sense that maybe they have a medical justification for not playing him (like that maybe his procedure takes a year to heal in most cases) or that Rick, Darryl, Les and the Rockets staff all got together to conspire to commit insurance fraud and risk their careers and freedom over Tracy McGrady?
It wasn't insurance fraud, it was elite player status fraud. it was a player on the same level as kobe fraud.
Does it make since to you the MRI is scheduled right after the insurance would benefit them the most?
Isn't it the MRI was already scheduled way before the 2009-10 NBA schedules came out? So I wouldn't say they are commiting insurance fraud. I think they are just being cautious...
Feigen re-iterated this in one of his replies in his blog which slightly clarifies the above quote: http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/11/pregame_report_rockets_vs_hawk.html So I vote no.
From Feigen's blog: [rquoter] Could elaborate a bit on the facts Wojnarowski didn't get right in the article? Thanks. (I heard someone list the things inaccurate this morning, but I cannot really recall all of them. I know that McGrady did not return to the locker room in uniform, surprising Adelman. He wore his workout gear as usual and later changed. Adelman was not startled to see McGrady in uniform; he was amused when he was told later McGrady got dressed as if he could play. McGrady did not ask the equipment manager to bring out the uniform. He got it himself. The 41-game date is not significant. McGrady's salary has been paid by insurance since last season. Also, McGrady went through his usual pregame workout when inactive, not when he is playing. His pregame routine when he is playing does not include that workout or any on-court warm up. There were others I can't recall. Adelman and McGrady also deny they had a heated argument, but I did not see or hear that myself, as with the other things, so I cannot say what is true or not on that one. I have also had many people vehemently deny an argument during practice last week, but again, I did not see that myself so I cannot say first hand. -- Jonathan) [/rquoter]
