Is this really worth it. I mean 10 hours of crap I will only watch maybe once. . . twice is a stretch. IMO it is a bit overkill Rocket River
I buy DVD's for no rewinding, beter picture and sound and again no rewinding. They take up less space too. I can really care less about the extra footage. But now that VHS are cheaper, 3/4 the cost of DVD's, i'm stuck in a bind on either of the two.
I guess that is my question . . . all this extra footage is it worth anything to you . . . to me it is interesting . .the 1st time. . but after that it can be erased. Rocket River
I guess I'm in the minority of people who actually love the extras. I loved all the extras on Fight Club. I usually only watch a movie once, but I watched Fight Club with all the different commentaries. I also like deleted scenes, some of the interviews, outakes, etc. I won't buy a movie unless it has extras. I'll just wait for the special edition to come out later if I have to. B
It all depends on the movie. If its an older movie like Tommy Boy. They only have the movie trailer. I still bought it but it wasn't worth it. Now that newer movies have 2 disc sets and one for the outakes/special features. Those might be worth it. I always rent the movies and check out the movie and the extras before thinking about buying a DVD or VHS. The orange County extra's were definetly worth the extra 5 bucks for the DVD instead of the VHS. Then again, it all depends on the movie.
Of course they charge a lot more for these 2 disc sets than if it was only one disc. Extras are fun but I would rather they had both Full and Widescreen presentations.
Why have full and widescreen? I'd rather get something new out of the movie. If I have an option between full and widescreen, I'll take widescreen everytime. The only time I find full screen to be acceptable is when I'm watching a TV series on DVD. Otherwise you lose too much in the full screen version. I guess some people can't stand the "bars" on top and bottom. Maybe if you are watching it on something smaller than 25" I could understand why widescreen wouldn't be the optimal choice. The reason I changed to DVD was so I could get all my movie in wide screen. Anyways, to each his/her own, I wasn't trying to be offensive. B
But do you think it's right for them to put two special edition Dvd's out for the same movie? Not long ago I bought Men In Black special edition nice solid black box cover. Now Men In Black has yet another special edition out and you always have to ask again...Do you feel cheated? Same goes with Rambo Box set, yet another Rambo box set is out with this time a tin cover and Patriotic logo's. Thats why I always wait now on Top movies because a special edition or "criterion collection" comes out. I am very suprised Halloween box set has not surfaced yet with the unrated version of Halloween666( known as revenge of michael meyers)
yeah- LOTR 1 first edition comes out Aug 8. 2 months later, 4 hour edition released, rated R, more violence, more Strider stuff. Of course I prebought the Aug 8 a long time ago on the web. Kevin Smith movies have awesome DVD extras. Commentary is hillarious
I also pre-ordered the LOTR Aug 8 release, but then I found out that with the later release you get different extras. So it kind of works out. Personally, I like the extras on DVDs. Especially those about how they made the special effects and bloopers/outtakes. Stuff like Jurrassic Park/Lost World extras are very good, IMO.
I got the Orange County DVD also. By any chance, do you know where to watch the Jack Black outtakes? They advertise it on TV, but isnt on the DVD, or cant find it as an easter egg throughout the net.
