This line of reasoning makes sense if the Rockets were interested in resigning TMac in the offseason for much less money. If the Rockets are interested in trading TMac before the trade deadline (which is what I am under the impression of), then lowering TMac's value does nothing for the organization. Again, if they really want to trade the guy, saying things like he is not ready, or it will be a while will not boost his value. Perhaps they are saying these things because they are true.
That is exactly what I think.... The Rockets gain so little by letting him play and lose so much. Tmac has a lot to prove, the Rockets do not. DD
mcgrady had very significant muscular imbalances in addition to his knee issue. The imbalances alone can take months to rehab. There's no way he would be back anywhere close to 3 months. I think the timetable is about right, the organization wants to make sure tmac can keep up with his own rehab prescribed by Grover, to keep his muscular imbalances in check. He's done with the knee rehab itself, but if he get all unbalanced again he's going to have more joint issues.
Maybe, but Tmac's value around the league is currently as a very large expiring contract, so teams in financial trouble might look to get rid of some talented players with longer deals to rebuild. Playing him does NOTHING to change that....and even if completely healthy, contending teams would not be able to afford him..... So, again, the Rockets gain practically nothing by playing him......in any capacity. DD
yoyo, that's a great post and it sums up what i've been thinking myself, too. i'd rep you if i could.
This is where I think it could get ugly.........right now the organiztion can say they are being cautious, but once that is over, and if Tracy does not play as much as he thinks he should.......it could go downhill fast. DD
for the average person the knee is "non weight bearing"....the reason tmac's knee was getting torn up is because his muscular imbalances and scoliosis were re-directing his force to his knee, instead of the foot. When you jump and land, the force of your weight should be transfered down to your feet, his stopped mostly at his knee. Technically it would be weight bearing even right after surgery, since the imbalance would still be in play.
I understand Tracy's value right now is low. But if Morey insists on not trading TMac just for the sake of trading him, not taking back garbage contracts, and at the same time not wanting to let him expire, not playing TMac and lowering his value even more will not be the way to get that done.
He has no value as a player right now, and even if he did, because he is expiring it would not matter because he can walk at the end of the contract. So, nothing changes, he is an expiring contract whether he is playing great, or poorly. The Rockets have nothing to gain by playing him. DD
the mri will show if he's caused damage to the knee since rehab. Again, his muscula imbalances caused it in the first place. He worked out the imbalances with Grover, but know tmac is on his own. Grover gave him a "at home" workout he needs to do prevent the imbalances and therefore keep his joints safe. The team is taking time to make sure those imbalances didnt creep up again and started to tear up his knee again...i'm guessing if the mri shows no damage or inflammation, then it's safe to say tmac is keeping up with it.
You keep saying the same thing about muscular imbalances. Has this been medically proven to be the cause or is this just Grover speak as he is marketing his services? DD
Seems like your giving up on the season with that response, who says we cannot contend? Seriously that west looks horrible this year. Brooks is developing to be very good, Ariza is becoming a starter. If Tracy could mold into this system sucessfully I could see us winning 50+ this year and Im sure Morey believes that too.
I think this team already wins 50, but in the playoffs they will lose to teams with better bigs than us..... Maybe Yao comes back in March....who knows what is going on in DMorey's laboratory. DD
Actually, now that i think of it, we're rushing things, acting like t-mac should've played in the game last night... I think he wouldn't play last night anyway, he just can't wait to get back in the court, but if he's going to come back that'll probably be early december.. I know for sure he will play again anyway, they have to let him play again anyway, it doesn't matter how long they'll take their time for. Anyway, whenever he comes back, i expect him to do good.
It's proven. Ask a doctor. It's going to happen naturally when you have scoliosis. Tmac's was made a lot worse by improper training with Hall for years. I also speak from experience. I developed functional scoliosis from an old ankle innjury i never rehabbed. Once i had the functional scoliosis, it developed muscular imbalances as well. I wouldn't say Hall purposely trained tmac incorrectly, but i think he failed to notice his uneven strength gains. That's what tipped me off first. Eventually i started having knee issues as well, but i don't pound on it for 82 games a season, so it wasn't extensive damage. Also have a slight shoulder issue. I can go into further detail as to how that's caused by extreme imbalances, but i dont think writing more will decide whether you believ me or not. I'm not a Dr. but i do have a degree in kinesiology. I'm not just spitting out something i overheard or something i learned on wikipedia.
OK DD let's talk business, There are gains if T-Mac plays well again with the team...Ticket Sales...Media coverage...Playoff positioning...An All-Star playing again in the All-Star games... Now that is if everything goes well for T-Mac...if not then definitely GM Morey have better ideas than yours. You have just pointed out the business side of things...If you are paying an employee that is not working, now that is a loss on your business isn't it? But if your employee is working and somehow gives you enough manpower so that your other employees will not get stressed out then that's a gain for your business, right? I really admire your assesments and for having an obvious point over the situation, but there is nothing wrong with hoping for the best for the team with or without T-Mac. And if you really don't want to change your mind over your business side opinion then you might as well include YAO. NBA is getting faster not bigger, having a 7'5" center with a surgically realligned foot is not good business for a team in a fast-playing NBA game. That's the business side for you.
