while the game has been mentioned in other threads I search back and couldnt find a thread specifically about the game itself (and if there has been mods please lock/merge as necessary)

but now that the game is out curious as to who else is playing it and thoughts so far

i got my copy last night on the 360 and played up to the very first assassination

some of the new features i have experienced that i liked so far:

    stealing/looting money
being able to hire floosies to distract guards
the "database" with the historical tidbits of the areas you are around
the way the buildings are "built" when entering the animus...its all eye candy of course but its pretty cool looking

    things not so big on:
the blending with a group of crowds...i understood how you could hide with monks in AC1 but blending in with just anyone seems a bit weird as a guard should be able to notice a guy with a hood and armor in a crowd. I do like though how blending isnt restricted to just the paths the monks take.

will spoiler this since it has to do with the story of the game
i lost my sword after the hanging i am not sure if i have to go to a blacksmith to buy a new one or if i will acquire a new one via another assassin...makes it a bit hard to fight obvious will try to see if i can buy one at a blacksmith though.

seems like you have to hold down the Y button for eagle vision and hold it back down to get out or picking/dropping objects with B is also pressure sensitive.

overall i love the game so far cant get home to play it more

I tried to play AS but it just got too repetitive.

yeah the graphics were awesome, but you're right, it was pretty repetitive. hopefully the 2nd one is better. i plan on getting it soon.

I didnt like that you had no creativity for fighting/assassinations in the first one. Is the 2nd one any different? Might grab it for the PS3 if there are more freedoms.

Literally, most of the complaints people had from the first game have been addressed in the second game. From repetitiveness to combat to just being more fun.

The game is averaging a 92 on MetaCritics right now with a lot of the sites that gave AC1 6's and 7's, are now giving AC2 scores in the 9's.

I'm gonna pick it up tonight and expect great things. Most of the impressions from GAF and IGN boards have been very positive as well.

Just finished it. It's a long game but I couldn't put my controller down. There were some frustrating parts but it's so much better than AC1. Started off kind of slow. The ending is freaky deaky.

How exactly did they address the repetitiveness in the second one?

The first one was so hard to force myself to beat. It was just like every other Ubisoft shovelware game (Prince of Persia I'm looking at you).

most people I know who said the first was too repetitive never finished the campaign. It was certainly repetitive to a degree, but the last 3rd or so of the first game was different. Most people I know quit before they got that far.

Yeah, I pretty much played it 24 hours straight. It froze on me 2 or 3 times. I like the game and all but don't think it's worth that much continuous play. For some reason I just kept on playing though and since I didn't have any obligations today I was able to.
