Carmelo is better than Lebron like Glenn Robinson was better than Grant Hill. Kobe has the best mid-range game.
And the winner is.... David Andersen. Top Far-mid Bottom Close-mid Melo 26 for 66 39% 18 for 35 51% Kobe 25 for 64 39% 39 for 75 52% Lebron 31 for 71 43% 6 for 10 60% David West 27 for 56 48% 11 for 35 31% Wade 20 for 57 35% 14 for 31 45% Jackson 17 for 40 42.5% 10 for 12 83% Roy 31 for 67 46% 8 for 24 33% Miller 9 for 35 26% 9 for 20 45% Hill 7 for 29 24% 25 for 45 55.5% Aldridge 24 for 56 43% 17 for 37 46% Iggy 22 for 46 48% 3 for 13 23% Dirk 34 for 74 46% 26 for 71 37% Nash 15 for 36 42% 16 for 28 57% Jennings 20 for 45 44% 12 for 30 40% CP3 27 for 40 67.5% 20 for 32 62.5% Brooks 9 for 20 48% 8 for 22 36% David Andersen 10 for 21 48% 9 for 20 45% Just kidding CP3 has the best overall midrange percentages with David Andersen leading the pack at a far second.
A Mid-range game is more than just taking a shot from the mid-range area. It is the skill to operate in that area - getting your shot off in a variety of ways and making plays for others. Rip Hamilton doesn't have a great mid-range game. He's an excellent shooter from that area so he's still good, but not great. Kobe would be the best. I'm pretty surprised Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh haven't been mentioned in this thread yet.
I'm shocked the thread made it that long before someone got it right. Kobe and it isn't even close. The word "deadly" is an understatement when describing what Kobe does from 15 feet in.
shane battier when he decides to post up. He always get the opponent in trouble ,richardson,kobe...... and when the opponent gets mad battier stops and stands in the corner for the broke 3 point shot.
This. I can't believe it took this long for someone to say Kobe. The guy is just deadly from mid range. It boggles my mind how he gets so many easy shots from mid range.
hamilton melo kobe dirk jesus roy durant is improving too i guess you can say any big time scorer or great shooter will have a really good midrange game
Rip 2 years ago Grant Hill 7 years ago Roy is a good one now, as is Kobe... depends on if you want the guy to create on his own. If so, Kobe obviously is more effective in that regard esp. due to his post-up ability. But Roy can come off screens firing...Kobe hasn't really done that (but it's never been asked of him I'm sure)
Winner. I say Ray Allen, the best shooter of his time, imo. He has strength and accuracy, is efficient at the mid range j but is even more deadly from three point land.
To be honest his shot doesnt even look that good it looks awkward. Best midrange I'd say is Dirk....his shot is basically unstoppable.
His shot looks almost perfect. He uses his legs and squares up directly to the hoop, his release is quick and smooth. What's not good about that? Can I change my pick, I forgot about Chris Paul. He can hit any shot from mid range. And is very creative with it.
Nowitzki and Kobe are standouts in that category. But I'd like to stress out one important name, Mo Williams.
