If T-Mac comes back at the high caliber he is known for then maybe it could happen. The only thing holding us back is a shot blocker that scares people to go into the lane. I guess Landry might be able to do that if he develops well this year. We can only wait and see.
i don't think teams can win championship without a proper center. we are a playoff team, but unless yao decides to return for playoff. i highly doubt we can win it all.
Morey's not done tweaking the roster yet so we'll see. If we get a legitimate shot-blocker or at least someone who can contest the shots and clog the paint against opposing players...then anything is possible.
This comes from T-Mac's blog about winning a championship this season: "Being in the league for as long as I have, you notice there are some years you have great teams with that potential to go all the way. It’s something you just feel, and working day in and day out together with this group leads me to believe this team can do it. We have tremendous talent out there but more importantly, this team has a lot of heart. I can’t wait to get out there and contribute. This has all the makings of being a great season in Houston, even without having Yao in there."
not gonna happen. if stern and the league sees even the slimest chance of the rockets winning than they'll probably invent something like the 3 seconds infront of kobe violation
Danny Downer Post Below: Damn, didn't know we were suddenly almost on par with the 2004 Detroit Pistons. Face it, we're not going to "make it all the way". Its a tough pill to swallow, but just realize it. We can all have these dreams and such, but lets be honest. We have no true center and McGrady is an uncertain. Even if he does come back even 80% of what he was once, then what? We make it to the playoffs and get to play whom? Lakers? Spurs? Nuggets? Count up another first round loss. Between that and receiving a potentially high draft pick, I'll take the choice that will help our future. I love the support y'all give to the Rockets, but you're asking for too much. Save the aspirations for a year when we have actually have a chance at something great.
I think the rockets can go into the 2nd round (depends on the opponent) but not more further, we need someone in the paint, that can get rebounds, and can go to the paint to block shots, and keep players outside the paint.
It's a long season, anything could happen (major injures for other team, ect), but chances are small.
