I know this has been bandied about to death , but since Tracy COULD be traded any day now ........another thread.

First off, I want to say that I trust Morey will do us right in a big way.

But the Rockets have a lot of options and I'm interested to hear what kind of strategy folks think the Rockets will employ.

Tracy IMO will go before the deadline. What we get back should be very telling about how we plan to deal with Yao also.

At face value, this year would be about developing players and chemistry....also....setting up the roster for a long window.

Now I know many either want Yao to stay or just don't believe Les will deal him. I have to say though that with all his foot problems(and big expiring contract next year), and the free agent class coming out that anything's possible.

So........I want both sent out and for us to go get what we need to augment our existing talent.. and win a few titles.

Yao really should have been dealt a few years ago and Tracy would seem a lock to go now.

We obviously need size and athleticism on our frontline.

What do you all want to see happen?

They can both fit in despite the naysayers. two years ago mcgrady was an mvp candidate under adelman. he was fitting in just fine. last Season he could barley run so hopefully this season with a more healthier knee and mindset, he can fit in just fine. btw, according to lakers announcers, mcgrady is'nt getting traded because the rockets will let he's contract expier.

Yao can also be a fit. he can cleanup the glass and be an solid outlet pasers to the greyhounds like budinger and brooks. also yao is a good passer and can easily find the cutters around him. we run alot of flex cuts and thats a system where as long as you're a good passer and can read the angles on the court, you're fine.

Why is that people always want to deal somebody before they come back.

Because the usual is a player playing not always expecting to come back.

I think this will depend on Morey, he has yet to make a good move involving a great player, that's why i think Adelman has more credit than him onwhat the team does.

Morey is letting Adelman play with half the cap, that's a big dissadvantage. He is yet to find good offers for either Yao or Tmac. Even if we traded only Tmac, offers should be listened.

I can understand but our situation is no longer a dire one.
It is all about match ups. If Yao comes back, we'll have another weapon in the paint. What the rest of the team shows us, we don't have to play Yao 35-38 minutes any longer. 28-30 suffices.
Also, the surgery on Ilgauskas showed more than hope that he can come back strong. It is a question mark but we can be confident at least there is a high probability.

This is one of many interesting questions to be answered this year. How long will Tracy actually be in uniform ?.......if at all. TMac needs to command the ball to be effective and we have very good developing chemistry as of now.Do we sacrifice a couple of weeks while Tracy demonstrates his health...and how about him getting hurt again? This is more about his expiring contract IMO than his playing ability at this point. Yes, the longer and better he plays the more he's worth...but we don't need that exposure.

Yao on the other hand has some of the same issues, but it is POSSIBLE for him to come back and play at a sustained level, giving us the aforementioned low post presence.Again though we have exposure where we don't need it.
Even if it's .80 on the dollar we need to take it.And personally I think we'd get more than that back with Yao and his expiring.

Add the healthy talent e pick up from dealing these two
to what we have and we're looking sweet. There's always a risk of injury, but when it's already there to this degree and you have this much talent on the floor as is...........

I'm glad this poster brought this topic up, I have long thought that besides T-Mac, Yao needs to go as well considering his huge salary and his trouble with staying healthy.

I wouldn't say he hasn't gotten any good offers. I think it's too early to trade Tracy. Remember... Most teams will know where they are heading financially and record wise come late December and to early January for this season.

You'll see a seller's market come this trading deadline.

I don't mind Yao staying. But if he is going to play 25 mins a game or 30 at most. And payed that way.
I mean, if Yao stays and is payed as a player that can play 25-30 mins, his stats will likely drop, and i expect his contact to drop as well.

Yao has brought much more money to the rockets than they have paid him.

YAO MING IS THE MAIN DRAWING CARD WHY OTHERS MIGHT WANT TO COME TO THE ROCKETS. OUR ROLE PLAYERS HAVE LITTLE PULL BY Comparison :p

Yeah, but there is only and ammount of that money that can be used to pay the players. He can get whatever money he want besides his salary, but salary wise, he has to earn the money he deserves, or he will be eating a lot of cap regarding his on-court production.

Hey, I love Yao and see him as being an incredible person who has been an amazing ambassador. But his career has been hurt by the demands of the Chinese govt. I don't need to run down the history of big men and foot injuries in the NBA. Bowie,et. al. He's not going to draw people here sitting on the bench. With him we were going to win it all last year....and he almost made it. I just think at this point it's a roll of the dice we don't need to make. The Rockets can get enough back from these deals to ensure us of being contenders for a good while.

Can we keep T-Mac 2.0 he's coming out in several days. Heck hes more anticipated by rockets fans than a video game to 13 yr old. SO lets see how he does ok? Why not keep him? IF and a big if he can run, (which I've seen is evident in his rehab videos) he would not harm the team. What did he do in Toronto? Run Wat did he do in Orlando? Run.
Now I mean Run not in the physical action but the type of fast paced offensive set which Adelman has currently put the rockets in. T-mac can pass well and is a good shooter when healthy.

    - Let;s give him a chance guys,

I think Yao is someone we need right now on the team...he's that tall rebounder
we've been missing, and he will do a lot of good when he gets back IF he stays
in shape, because he may lose it a little now that he doesn't play anymore.
Tracy can be good for us too if he's fully healed and ready to play, and if he
also stays healthy now that he (hypothetically) is okay with his knee and all. I
think we can use both guys, and we don't need to trade either of them (yet.)

Remember that, if no Yao, the rockets wouldn't have money to buy 2nd rounders. Other rockets players wouldn't get shoe contracts from China either. Yao has brought extra ammount of money to the rockets.

I love Tmac and Yao but honestly this team can not win without Yao when it comes down to a playoff series. Just cause we have yao does not mean we give up the run and gun of the team. Just let yao rest more minutes, play him 20-25 mins while the others take up the court. But being real about the situation, if we dont have yao, teams like the lakers, spurs, mavs can just feed it to the inside and dominate in a playoff series.
