I say it depends as to when Coach A wakes up and realises that Brooks cant be both the playmaker and top scorer. Untill this happens Brooks will be inconsitant trying to play both roles. Last night he only had 4 assists and concentraded on getting Points. :p

Brooks is not a good shooter. He is 35% from 3 for his career and has shown that his mid-range game only consists of floaters, runners, and other various assortments of the layup. He turns the ball over too much, is not an exceptionally good passer, does not always try to find the open man and lacks the court vision of half the NBA's starting PG's.

He does have good speed and above average quickness, an above average transition game at times, and when he hits his 3's he can hit them in bunches.

Star? Not yet. I still think there are guys like Randy Foye and Ramond Sessions who could start over him, essentially guys who are backups.

:) I just want to see AB succeed beyond what he is showing now. Plus all this forum is pretty much pointless unless coaches and players use it to scout...and in that case we are screwed.

is it just me or do the majority of brooks' points come from 3 point shots? granted he's only 6'0 so he'd get blocked if he were to go inside.

Rockets are 10x better when AB is looking to score. He struggles when he tries to create plays and loses aggresiveness to score. He needs to go more 1 on 1 till he gets double team.

He is just that good shooting.

Brooks is not a star yet because a star is somebody that gets keyed in on and routinely still gets his. He does need to improve on his midrange game which would open up his post game because they would have to come out sooner. He actually is in the top 10 pg with 5.9 ast a game and has the 2nd lowst ast/to ratio after Arenas so I would say he is an above average passer and does not turn it over too much when compared to other players. I would love to hear your argument for why Randy Foye and Ramond Sessions would be better...perhaps they would have put 43 instead of 33 on the lakers?

According to Morey's tweet Brooks was responsible for 33 great shots. Lowry for 20. Our PGs alone leading to 53 great shots bodes well. Guys of course gotta knock them down but the PG cant really help with that. I cant find fault in any of that.

I laugh at the folks who want Brooks to distribute more rather than scoring, when his starting lineup consists of offensive juggernauts Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier - and a struggling to find his shot Trevor Ariza.

opponents gameplan for Brooks before they gameplan for anyone else on our roster . . . so for this team the answer is yes, he is the star.

if the rockets get another player that becomes the primary focus of the opposing team's gameplan, that guy would be the star.

Considering, he was second among all sophomores in average assist per game, second on the team behind Yao Ming in scoring and was the only one to show up for more then 3 quarters in game 7 in LA, I'd say he performed pretty well for a guy who only just got the regular backup minutes that season and began starting mid way through it.

I wouldn't say he is a star yet and he has reached superstar or elite level, but he has the qualities and is in position to become one.

There is a certain clique of posters who only see black and white assist/turnover ratio as the stat for the PG position. No amount of points, stellar plays during crunch time, or any lauding from the coaching staff will let them see past it. Those folks are trying to put Brooks down as a weaker player than he actually is, just like some folks are trying to make him out to be Baron Davis or Tony Parker or any other scoring PG.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Tony Parkeresque would make him a top 5 PG. The super-dissenters would have you believe there are 35 players who would start over him at PG. He is probably middle of the road, but a better fit for Houston in the fact that he and Trevor Ariza make up a 1a and 1b scoring tandem.

He was like a Bull in a china shop. Replicants flying everywhere, like 9 pins. He really interfered. You might say he was on my case, just a bit.

You can say w.e you want about AB. But saying 4ppg on subpar shooting Lowry is better.

    Well.

    That speaks for itself
