You're wrong. (natural) Peanut butter is a staple of a lot of body builder's diets. In fact, there is a "cutting" diet that is almost entirely all natural peanut butter.

I was messing around with some peanut butter and my blender last night and came up with this little recipe:

3 scoops all natural peanut butter (forget the brand but it is sorta runny)
8 ounces unsweetened almond milk (approximately)
    1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract (approximately)
    2 packets of splenda
    1/3 cup uncooked oatmeal

blended up it makes a nice little shake. A little low on protein because I'm out of usable protein powder. I could probably get away with adding some olive or flax oil for calories (if you want more) without affecting the taste provided you drank it relatively quickly so the oil didn't separate too much.

Just an idea. It tasted pretty good for "health" food so I'm sure you could tweak it however you wanted.

No i'm not a bodybuilder, I'm not trying to look like jared from subway either, I already have a decent build from consistent weight lifting for the last 10 years, I've just gotten sloppy since I got out of college and started working so I want to clean up and really work hard to get a better looking body. I've always kept diet in mind, I've never gone over board and just started eating like the average amercian, ya know (whole eggs, pancakes for breakfast, cheeseburger for lunch, chicken fried steak for dinner) but I have gotten lazy and skipped meals, (not eating 6 times a day), adding a slice of cheese to a sandwich, munching on a handful of chips before bed, that kind of thing. So I'm trying to clean up basically and having a stock of healthy peanut butter and jelly to make sandwiches is only a temporary solution to my habit of waking up late for work..once i can get up super early i can start cooking a decent meal but i'm terrible with getting up!

    1) You can do it with cereal too
    2) Make sure you agitate it with your hands
    3) Add milk/water last
    4) Try to use vanilla or unflavored whey powder
    5) If it still tastes like ass, chances are you're not working out hard enough

I just really wish I could get the motivation to work out every day. I worked out twice this week, and will again tomorrow, but I need more than that and I know it.

I'm always so freaking tired it seems, I wake up tired, I'm tired throughout the day, and it seems there are only a few instances during the day when I actually feel like doing anything.

I really just need to take some juice or something in the morning to get me going.

An alternative to anyone who doesnt want to become a food nazi :p

Try traditional boxing. You want to find a glamour-less gym where they will emphasize technique. Most of the calorie burning will happen while feeling like **** and still keeping good form. Avoid 24 hr fitness type boxing classes if you can because they wont push you very far. Smaller gyms tend to have coaches that wont be so polite if you slack... you'll hate it the first month, but its all gravy after that. Especially when you realize you can drink all the beer you want and still look fit :D .

Oh, and avoid soda like the plague. Drinking water/tea even when you are not thirsty will cut down soda cravings to almost zero.

It's really tough to get 1.5 times your body weight in protien, like alot of muscle articles say you need, only way i can think of getting this done is doubling your servings of protein shakes (like 2 scoops instead of just 1) and eating like 7 times per day, i can't see myself putting that much effort consistently unless i was bodybuilding for a profession.

i do not know a whole lot about nutrition but i'm also pretty happy with my weight. i had a question on the prepackaged Quaker oatmeal. i figured the flavored ones have more sugar than the plain one in the cylindrical tub. so that is why i went with the "low sugar" apples and cinnamon one.

but does that really make a difference?

it says for one pack, 110 calories, 1.5 g total fat, 170 mg sodium, 120 mg potassium, 6 g sugar, 3 g protein. are those good or bad values? i've been thinking about making adding a spoonful of the regular oatmeal along with each prepacked bag. any better?

along with others on the bread topic, we were trying to find something healthier and i compared the Mrs. Baird's whole wheat with a nature's own one and they looked very similar in nutrients but Mrs. Bairds was $2 while Nature's Own was $2.79 so I went with Mrs. B. any other recommendations on decently priced bread, whole grain, high fiber and protein?

    thanks so much.

Prepackaged oatmeal is fine as long as you aren't exceeding your goal calories for the day. I'm better off using the double fiber instant oatmeal because nothing else comes close to being that convenient.
