another thing about this game is AB's consistency. after a great start, he's been fairly inconsistent and that affects us, esp. on the road. if he's going to take that next step to become a better player, he's going to be more consistent. it does not have to be just be scoring points. good players in this league find ways to make an impact when they're not scoring. AB is a talented player and hopefully he can figure it out soon. when brooks plays like this, it elevates our team. he's the only one on our team right now who can go on a scoring spree like he did with a personal 10-0 run himself.
Hey guys.. I saw the game at Staples and it was so awesome to cheer the Rockets on throughout the game and see them come away with the win. A few things I really enjoyed: 1 - Aaron Brooks faked out the opposing guard (Farmar? Brown?) so badly the guard fell down backwards.. I think this happened in the third quarter but I'm not sure. Aaron took the shot but missed, but it didn't matter to me. 2 - Artest stealing the ball from Ariza (I think) and then dribbling it with one hand behind him then through his legs to control it and pass it forward... it was beautiful to see even though it was against us. 3 - The recorded video PSA by Lakers players (including Artest) asking all in the crowd to refrain from discourteous behavior or activity that would incite disturbance (forgot the exact phrase).. I was thinking he might have wanted to say ".. or I'll come up there and kick your a**" 4 - Meeting AC Green totally by chance outside the arena afterwards and getting a picture taken with him.. he's pretty cool, soft-spoken guy. 5 - Applauding and whooping as the Lakers were booed during the 4th quarter.. and watching Kobe just peter out instead of stepping up like I feared he would do. People started leaving in earnest with about 3 minutes left in the game, so I was able to go down and sit up close behind the courtside seats and watch the final minutes and see how these guys look up close.. man these guys are sooo fast it's incredible. It was my first visit to Staples and I only get the see the Rox play live maybe once a year so this was a really great experience for me.
^ I know how you feel Hasher. I only get to see the Rockets live maybe once a year (or even 2 years), and the experience is definetly exhilarating. Glad you enjoyed it! Btw, I saw the move where Brooks broke Farmar's ankles I believe. Just too bad he didn't make the jumper
Lowry was HUGE tonight........ I think the effect of Lowry is being hugely underrated...without those awesome boards for the little guy I think it could've gone either way... Now to the problem of Battier......................
6'0" Lowry's rebounding >>>>> 6'8" Battier's rebounding Honestly, is it a coincidence that we did such an unbelievably amazing job on the boards with Battier on the bench for most of the game? The guy is averaging 2.8 rebounds in 32 minutes per game. That's absurd.
That win is something i'm going to remember for a long time....the feeling i had when i was talking with my friend...he didn't get to watch the game. So he didn't know the result. This is how it went: Friend: How did you like your loss last night? Me: Didn't you watch the game? Friend: No. We won right? Me: What do you think? Friend: I don't need to think anything, i already know how it went without even watching the game. Me: Why do you think you won? Friend: Because you don't have any damn star players, who can guard kobe? Name one player in your team who can guard kobe. Me: Right. Friend: What? You're still mad about losing both games against us of the season. Me: Oh really? Guess what, you lost 91-101. Friend: Haha yeah right, you probably mean YOU lost 101-91. Me: No, check it out. *showing him the result of nba.com using my iphone* Friend: ..........DAMN! HAHA! it felt just great, rockets, keep going like that, great job!!!!!
screw the rockets doubters. Games like this are reasons to show you what were capable of when we play well. I had a lot of doubts about winning this game. Watching it was a beauty. Good job Rockets!
Battier is usually the first one to box out when the other team shoots. He does not look for the rebound, instead he boxes out and helps his teammates to get the rebound. We are a small team, so rebounding has to be a team effort. You do not see floor burns and boxing out in the boxscore, but Morey and JVG had said many times before that Battier helped the team to get extra possessions in games he played.
I don't know it, and i don't think such site even exists, because clutchfans is special, it's not the official forum of the rockets, because most teams don't even have official forums, but still, clutchfans is like official, and i gotta say i purely love it!
Not sure if this was posted, but another good article by Friedman: http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/pure_joy_rockets_reveal_their_2009_11_16.html
[Friedman] Pure Joy Personified LINK A nice read. Please Lock if Posted. "Following the euphoric bus ride back to the team hotel after the game, several Rockets' players and staff made their way over to In-N-Out Burger (because where else would you celebrate a big win?) for a late-night meal. Just as Jermaine Taylor was preparing to order his food at the counter, late-arrival Aaron Brooks suddenly burst into the restaurant and bounced onto the rookie's shoulders from behind. The playful greeting couldn't help but conjure images of the exuberant enthusiasm Brooks and his teammates had shared on the Staples Center court hours earlier."
I guess the Rockets prefer In-N-Out over Whataburger? awesome article, awesome game last night by Aaron & Andersen. The Youth Delivered!
