First yao. people are saying yao will slow our offense down, they may have some merit to there argument, but think about this, besides tonight, we have struggled badly on the defensive glass. but yao is someone who can cleanup the glass and unleash guys like brooks, budinger and ariza in the open court with some crisp outlet passes. that also helps scola because he can also get down the floor quicker with having to fight for the boards. and on defense just having him there shores up our interior defense.

Now for mcgrady.just imagine him in the open court with he's incridible court vision. guys like ariza, budinger and brooks will get a ton of open looks in transition offense due to mcgrady's sublime court vision and passing ability. another thing is tmac can handle the Point duties and that gives us another versatile weapon.

I'm very optomistic both those guys can and will fit in just fine.

I was thinking of this recently amid of who does and doesn't fit rhetoric we see on this board. Gater have this idea and that I fully agree with called the greyhound theory. Basically what it says is that when to maximize the twòyou need longer, quicker, faster athletic guys around them. This is especially true for Yao and I reality tracy also. Mcgrady is a galloper when he runs and yao is probably the slowest guy in the nba. Both are effective in half court sets and are beneficial despite being injurry prone. What the rockets have now are some guys that can get down the court at breakneck speed and finish. Although I would like to see a bigger athletic guy at the 4, scola runs the court and plays hard and has a good skill level while landry is the explosive reckless, high wire power guy at the 4. Brooks, lowry, buddinger all fit into this category.

Its also vital that tracy returns to the way he played off the ball more in orlando and yao understanding and anticipate passing lanes and angles.

Maybe they could, and maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I assume that our offense is just going to turn back into TMac iso ball or Yao-dumping every time they panic in a game. Then it will be hard to go back.

I trust Adelman to sort it out though.

After seeing all the various scenarios people have put forth on this board and BimaThugs excellent thread on the salary cap, I'm convinced that the Rockets would be best off by incorporating Yao and McGrady into the current team as constructed.

Compare the role players we have now to the role players from 3-4 years ago. The Rockets would be 0-10 if we had those guys. The complementary pieces are well in place now. If McGrady can be had for a relatively good price after this year, I think the Rockets should stay the course.

I have no doubts about Yao fitting into this offense. He is too good a talent and too concerned with team results to be a bad fit.

T-Mac is the only one I have doubts about. I'm convinced that the biggest factor in a player fitting into an offense when he jumps in late is WANTING to fit in. A guy who wants to fit in will find a way to fit in and run the offense even if that means his scoring average is cut in half. It remains to be seen how well McGrady will do that.

Yao is actually good at finding cutters . he is a pretty good passer and has a good feel for the cutters around him. if we continue with plays like the flex cut with guys like budinger, yao can easily hit them.

He was fitting in just fine in 08 when we went on a 22 gme streak. last season he could barley move. it's hard to fit in anywhere if you cant even run. hopefully he'll be able to fit back like in 08

i've very pessimistic about them fitting in. i've never seen two "stars" who needed to have role players longer and more athletic than them. just who are the "stars" here? this is t-mac's last stint with the rockets anyway and i'm very pessimistic he'll even see the court at this point. its looking similar to the francis situation where he was injured and never came back.
