again, new here kinda but seems like this DD guy has a huge ego from reading other threads, he seems to think he's smarter than everyone else so yea, he's too smart address a thread like this....
<quote>You would if you knew how many times I had to buy a new laptop and switch ip addresses and sometimes, internet providers.</quote> Dude, you ever heard of proxy? Ever thought of contacting the admins asking for reasons of being banned? Buying a new laptop and changing your ISP provider every time you get banned, there is SERIOUSLY something wrong with you...
do you mind telling us how many times you bought a new laptop or switch internet provider? you know, so we can feel your pain. man, i dont post much, but this thread is just too awesome. we're going to need some more drama to keep us interested since the rockets dont have any more games on TNT, and ron artest isnt around any more. I know DD doesnt was to reply... but seriously, could you just play along?
I've been around since the early days, over 10 years, and never seen anyone banned for having a different opinion than another poster. I've seen them banned for cursing, attacking, name-calling, false claims, or abusing other posters, instead of showing respect as they disagree with what they are saying. Debate and variance of opinion are encouraged here. Certainly, posting that you've changed your IP, laptop, etc., and posting under another username that has been banned, would be a quick way to get this new name banned. I have plenty of disagreements with DD, yet agree with him on others. He acknowledges that he flip-flops in his passion and excitement for the team, according to how he's feeling at the moment. He acknowledges that he over-pumps certain players, and hypes certain rookie hopefuls, and playfully jokes about it even. It's a little harder for him to acknowledge how he at times gets highly repetitive and preaches a point in a way that dichotomizes and polarizes the board, creating a hostile environment, instead of collaborative and intelligent debate this board was built on, especially the year when he wanted JVG gone and VSpan to play. I certainly don't believe that was ever his intent. He would see it that he gets excited as a true-blue Rocket's fan, and is willing to repeat his point wherever or whenever someone brings up that discussion in any post or thread, and its just a matter of genuine fan excitement with strong opinions, loving to post, certainly not trying to hurt anyone. He totally loves this place. I think both are true. Now I see him debating more, and interacting with his opinions, willing to change his opinion, even if someone calls it flip-flopping, and listening more to other's points of view, instead of the destructive repetitive preaching he used to do, although he still presents his opinions with great passion and strong belief in their veracity. From what I've seen, he genuinely cares about this board, brings value with sincere and frequent opinions, is quick to recap an interview, takes significant time to create funny webcam talks, and adds significant value to this board. I wish we could figure a way to undo the previous dichotomous hostility damage, and bring back more intelligent interaction instead of people going to opposite extremes in their arguments, but that will probably sort itself out in time. (For those who don't know what dichotomous means, it's when someone states their opinion so strongly, just repetitively preaching a point, without a willingness to understand and interact with others opinions, so that others feel they have to state their opinion in an opposite emotional manner just as strongly to get heard, killing interactive discussion that leads to better collective understanding, and primarily creating a divided camp, hostile environment, with extreme positions, justified by opposite extreme positions. The challenge is to get people to discuss things in the middle again, showing respect for variant opinion, so everyone can be heard, and learn from one another, with increased collective understanding and expertise from variant debate.) Threads like this only exacerbate that problem that most of us wish would be gone from this forum. There is no need to personally attack DD. Needle him about his opinion all you want, contest or debate it, but personal attacks are unwanted here, no matter who it is. He has no sway with those who do the banning, that I know of. It's not variant opinion that gets people banned ever, its personal attacks like this. I wish more people were banned who made personal attacks, to be honest, and figure its just a matter of time before you feel you have to buy a new laptop. If you wish to stay here, the best way is to acknowledge your past wrongs, and bring value, not try to get around the system that is protecting people from abuses.
I don't know what to say, LOL...I mean so much misinformation. 1. I can't ban anyone, only Clutch can do that, it has nothing to do with me whatsoever. We are all here on his good graces. 2. Flip flopping, as a passionate fan, NAH..never...well, maybe....nah....well..perhaps... 3. Ariza still can't dribble - and all I ever said was that he and Battier are redundant...and would like to see some contrast between the two wing positions. 4. I admit when I am wrong, it is just so darned infrequent... Young Truth, I think you emailed me about letting you back on the boards, and I told you in email I have nothing to do with that..... If I had banning power, I promise I would not ban you for long, probably until your other one dropped....and your voiced deepened. DD PS. We are one big family and we bicker like brothers, but that doesn't mean we all share the same passion - The Rockets. Oh, and uh.....reported !
lol take it easy bro. he actually did it very tastefully for a thread directed at one person. no childish name calling like most here do with certain players or anything. DD puts himself out there so he should be able to take the criticism with it. it is worth a thread? maybe maybe no, but it sure is funny!
