Carl Landry this season... As most of you know, He is averaging 24 minutes a game. *14 Points *6 Rebounds *1 block *55% from the field *87% from the line Per 36, Mandry is averaging... *20.8 Points *8.2 Rebounds *1.6 Blocks ----------------------------------------------------------------------- These are ALL Per 36 minutes... Dirk Nowitzki *24.7 Points *8.4 Rebounds *1.6 Blocks Amare Stoudemire *19 Points *8 Rebounds *0.9 Blocks David West *15 Points *7 Rebounds *0.5 Blocks Lamarcus Aldridge *17 Points *9 Rebounds *0.4 Blocks Kevin Garnett *16 Points *9 Rebounds *1.2 Blocks (For you stat people. I like watching and tracking this kind of stuff.) Landry has improved by leaps and bounds from a couple years ago, we have a stud on our hands. Maybe some of us should look at what great players we have, and not the ones we wish we could attain.) It has been fun watching these guys grow in front of us. Great job Daryl Morey!!!
all i see is a good player on the way to be a solid starter on any team in the league solid jumper and FT ,monster paint play and over-my-body defensive attitude. those being said, he's got a Loooooooooooooong way to go to be an all-star
He has potential to be a starter perhaps. 1. Firstly, his numbers per 36 minutes seem a lot better than they should be compared to someone like Garnett simply because he plays less minutes. Playing less minutes means you can concentrate your energy for a shorter time. 2. As a bench player he often plays against the second string of teams (not always obviously). However, he comes in fresh when starters are slightly tired. 3. Usage is again important. Is he really used as much as other all star players? So overall, he's solid but not all star material, IMO.
Well, it's an easy standard to say he has "potential." I'd say, 10% chance he makes it one time in his career.
Yup, probably so. What a long way he has come, wouldn't you say? This is more of a "Carl Landry appreciation thread" than anything else... I don't really think he is an all-star, but he is playing like one so far in his limited role...
I bet Carl could average 6 more points If he got 12 more minutes. I also think he could grab 3-4 more boards with 12 more minutes. Maybe not though, Your points are all good ones. 20 and 8, on 55 percent shooting and 87 percent from the line? All-Star numbers?
Not this year, but I can see him winning a 6th man of the year award though. This is said with no idea what other 6th man's are doing in the league right now.
It's for reasons like this thread that I really hope we are able to keep Morey until he (eventually) retires. I mean, look at the guys on our team, and tell me that ANY other GM would have done just HALF those moves. And they've turned out brilliantly (aside from Dorsey, etc.). Brooks, Landry, Scola?, Buddinger, Lowry, Andersen even Taylor has a good amount of potential. After we finish this season with above a .600 average, every owner will know the value of Morey...damn he's good.
NBA's Most Improved and NBA's 6th Man, but no All-Star until Landry replaces Scola which I think could happen next year. I really like Landry because it looks like he has intensity and a little cockiness sorta like AB. All-Star is going to be tough for him, but I'll definitely vote him in as a write-in.
6th man award i agree.. but for most improved award, he must compete with two other rocket, Ariza and Brooks..
Agreed. But hold off on the benching Scola now for Landry (remember game 6 vs. LAL). Ideally, Carl would imitate Chuck's hustle, defense, and strength. Hopefully that happens where he and Scola could start and complement one another nicely.
He probably could but with our style of play (hustle all the time) everyone needs to stay fresh. I wonder if his shooting % would drop slightly because of fatigue if he were to play more minutes. I don't think he can be an all-star either because of the limited minutes but as long as we win I don't think that bothers him. Carl is the main reason why we have been destroying the other teams benches.
