what he said...kobe had several js bounce in and out, had a crossover and came up pretty short on a wide open running 5 footer....dont know if it was mental or physical ,but he wasn't quite kobe tonight...

I'd like to see shane and trevor switch on him though, give him different looks, that way we dictate his moves more than he does, but he's still kobe freakin bryant.

Lol. I mean it infuriates me how people worship him. I just saw the commercial saying "shane battier and the rockets ....." he is "heart and soul" ,he is "intangible" ,"glue guy" they also signature quote him.

    After tonight I say yes.

Kobe has lost some of his quickness so battier doesn't need to be fast to keep up with him.

It seems Arizas length bothered his shot more.

I felt like that first game, Kobe's improved post game took the rockets by surprise, but they looked ready for it this time, and that probably helped a little. I'd say shake it up, even giving budinger stretches cuz Kobe's like Peyton Manning-he'll eventually figure anything out.

ariza's long arms bother kobe's shot more than battier's hand in the face technique. heck even budinger was able to contest his shot

I think the best defense on kobe is offense. When Shane plays, kobe just take naps and chills until he needs to turn it on. Even if trevor wasn't hitting, he was active offensively and then chase came in and was active also. Not only that, the length of trevor does effect kobe some. Here is why kobe decided to take lessons from dream. If anyone that has watched shane guard kobe, he isn't going to allow kobe to beat him off the dribble so he gives him room. In the playoffs last yr and in the regular season, kobe would back shane down enough that he would have a 10 ft jimmy. Well now, kobe is going deeper and getting it into a true postup spot and worked shane in the first game. Trevor is so long that even if kobe can get some good positioning on him, his size, much like tayshaun is still a harder shot to hit. Battier does a good job, but its not like kobe shoots sub 40% .

He may have been injured, but his shots were hilarious. Even T-Mac wouldn't shoot an airball that bad.

The fact that he is intangible and a glue guy doesn't mean he's better than Ariza at guarding Bryant. At the same time, the fact that Ariza is better at guarding Bryant doesn't make Battier a terrible player.

Basketball is a game of matchups. This is a good problem to have; not everything has to be a divisive issue.

I am sure it bothers him and I thought in the playoffs Shane did a good job. Looking back on it now I realize that Bryant is a 14 year vet who is perhaps the greatest shooting guard of all time. He knows where the the basket is, it's been in the same place since he came into the NBA and hasn't moved, and when the hand goes up I am sure he can picture where the basket is.

Bryant played the game with a groin injury.

All I know is that Ariza is better defending Kobe than Artest. We can switch Ariza and Battier as needed.
