I figure we are conceding the opening tip so we get the ball to start the second half.

Rockets can get it close enough and win if they surprise the Lakers by doing something they haven't done all season: showing a mid-range game from Ariza, Brooks and Budinger.

That's a huge margin of victory, 109 to 103 points.

both teams coming off road losses...

    artest self-destructs tonight?

    ariza stays cool.

his teammates and former teammates alike will watch in awe as he accepts his championship ring and proceeds to thrash the Lakers...

    wouldn't it be nice?

    longest. hour. ever.

    Here are my predictions:

    Predicted Quarter Box Score-

    First Quarter:
    Lakers - 27
    Rockets - 24
    Second Quarter:
    Lakers - 22
    Rockets - 23
    Third Quarter:
    Lakers - 29
    Rockets - 31
    Fourth Quarter:
    Lakers - 33
    Rockets - 26
    Final Score:
    Lakers - 111
    Rockets - 104

    Predicted Game Analysis-

1st Quarter - Lakers start the game off fast with excellent teamwork and ball movement to gain momentum. The Rockets counter with excellent perimeter defense, but the Lakers' interior penetration hurts them on the inside. Ariza once again steps up to show his former team what he can do. Battier hits some nice threes from the corner, but Aaron Brooks once again struggles to find his shots. Lakers win the quarter.

2nd Quarter - Tempo is more relaxed and the pace of the game is slowed down. At this point, Kobe is taken out, and the Rockets bench matches up evenly with the Lakers. Landry continues to dominate the inside and rookie Chase Budinger hits some key shots to win the quarter.

3rd Quarter - Rockets attempt to push the tempo early and succeed. Fast break points aplenty for the Rockets. Kobe enters the game but saves his stamina for the critical fourth quarter. Rockets win the quarter by only two points, thanks to a major defensive collapse near the end of the third quarter.

4th Quarter - It's Kobe time. Last time Kobe missed some key shots down the stretch. This time, it's a home game and the Rockets can only sit back and watch as Kobe makes dagger after dagger. Rockets attempt to make a late push, but only manage to trade baskets near the end of the game.

    Players of the Game:
    Rockets - Trevor Ariza: 28PTS, 3AST, 5RB, 2STL
    Lakers - Kobe Bryant: 35PTS, 4AST, 4RB, 3STL

I'd like to see Ariza catch Artest off-guard, and break to the hoop on a backdoor cut, Ron tries to recover, and Ariza mashes on him and Gasol. I hope he embarrasses TruWarrior in the Staples Center.

Emotions always run high when these two teams play, and a playoff-like atmosphere can definitely be expected.

Gasol playing? I thought he was still out.

Hate to say it, but there is a greater chance of a Christian virgin birth or me getting 37 virgins in the afterlife than a Rocket victory.

I do hope we make it entertaining, though.

I don't quite understand all the 'we have no hope in hell' posts.

We have shown that we match up on them pretty well, and often give them fits.

And this year, in our only meeting we absolutely had them on toast, and we LOST that game far more than they WON it.
