I'm just talking about Gay specifically. I've actually been a big fan of bibby since he was in Arizona, his championship team is my favorite college team ever...he showed then, along with Terry, that they were "winners". To me, the difference is whether you simply take the losing and ride with it, or like you said let it "beat you down", or do you try and make something different happen. I'm not sure Gay has ever done that since he's been there, seems like he stepped into a losing situation and just accepted it, rather than trying to actively change it.
Ban him. As for Gay, he sure can dunk. But no thanks, his all-around game is lacking, especially for the kind of coin he's looking for.
Millsap is no different, the team just isn't playing well. You brought up kemp, but we all know after that strike yr, a lot of guys went down hill. No one on phoenix plays defense and no one ever says anything because they're winning. Nash is one of the worse defenders in the league and he has 2 mvp's. Look at a young team like portland that doesn't play near the defense they should. I just think if the guy goes to another team, just like with bibby, terry, and miller, they will be viewed differently.
Shawn Marion and Raja Bell played defense very well. D'Anonti's good PHX teams were at least average in defensive efficiency-- they gave up high number of points due to the number of possessions, but not excessive amount of points per possession. Memphis, on the other hand, is well below average defensively the last few years as far as I can remember.
You are an a$$. Matter of fact the only posters on that thread who agreed with you are the once who are as ignorant as you are What does Gay give us that Chase/Ariza (who play the same position)doesn't? Chase is the better shooter already, while Ariza has better defense. To top it off, signing Gay for 7 mill a year is impossible when you consider the fact that he turned down the Grizz for 10. You're not just an ass, you're an idiot. Why don't you migrate to spurstalk and make every poster here a little bit happier?
You guys are seriously underrating Rudy. In every way possible. Its not even funny. ANY player, who gets offered a 10 million per year contract, is no average talent.
Nah,definitely a no to this trade to happen. A guy who wants to claim to be the cornerstone for the young franchise just got rough days around December I guess and O.J. Mayo' appearance troubled him a bit.Well,I overheard some friends talking about the inner-feud between those two guys for a better future role on the team, whether or not the source is creditable, checking out the recent performance he had,Rudy Gay is no more an option for us. Git R done Morey, get Marc Gasol like what the Fakers did last year. That'd make every Rockets fan ecstatic I suppose.
He's a good player and I always wanted him on this team. However, this year, we signed <SF>Ariza who costs half the price of <SF>Rudy (next year), and also drafted <SF>Budinger. You can only have so many SFs playing SG.
I'm glad you'd like Rudy on this team..glad to see someone who shares the same idea of getting Rudy Gay here whatever the costs may be....(well, almost =p) I don't think it will be a problem at all with them being all SFs. Right now we have Battier starting at SG who is a FARRR inferior fit as a player for this team, and look at how great we are doing so far (WAY ABOVE EXPECTIONS!)... Battier shooting 1-8 in key close games and getting 2 or 3 rebounds a game doesn't seem like a superior player to me Budinger is off to a great start but however is he starting material down the road? We are nowhere near clear on that... We had two SFs last year with Shane and Artest...Rudy and Trevor would make a FAR superior combo on the wings...I think Morey likes dual-SF wing lineup
I wonder if Taylor/Cook for Gasol would do it? Probably need a bit more but really a fan of Gasol and his overall potential so if Morey could get that guy here it would be another feather in the cap for our evil genius! There are a few things to consider and maybe the death nails in this line of thinking... 1) How will Yao/Gasol fit...Is Gasol a backup or future replacement? 2) Andersen's 3 year deal...trade bait maybe? 3) How much would Memphis ask for in return or is Wallace dumb enough to let another Gasol go knowing his fan base is going into a dangerous depression as is. As the Rockets turn continues...
No? You think? Did you really just suggest a benched rookie guard that hasn't played any significant minutes, nor shown any NBA competency (even in SL or preseason), plus a value negative (Cook) for a legitimate starting center? And to say we "may" need to throw in a bit more? Really?
Lakers aquired Paul Gasol for...Drum roll please... Kwame Brown, guard Javaris Crittenton, guard Aaron McKie, the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010. Obivously will take a bit more to make a deal like that work but they where willing to move a freaking all star for THAT...I assume it shouldn't take that much to get a 3rd year center who is a 2nd rd pick.
