why couldnt we have intellegent callers ask something like, "when adelman said Mcgrady had a LONG WAYS TO GO, did he mean fatigue wise, or did aldelman mean due to his injury..??"
i'm pretty sure he meant injury because he specifically said he was pain free...sounds like he means as far as getting back in top physical playing shape, not rehabbing.
See, even Morey says T-Mac isn't selfish. Is Morey a blind T-Mac fan too? Oh, let me guess, Morey has to say that right?
No. Telling the world that a player craves the spotlight, doesn't work hard and is a poor employee overall does wonders for trade value.
Yes if he openly bashed Tmac that would be bad for his trade value, but there's no reason why Morey would go out of his way on a radio show and lie about how much of a team player Tmac is if Morey didn't actually believe it -ARox
Well if running down his work ethic and committment to the team would HURT his trade value, wouldn't the inverse of that be that building up those qualities in the media might potentially help it?
True except there's no history of Morey building up his players in the media by lying about their positives so other other GMs would fall for it
For those thinking Morey is keeping mcgrady's trade value high, maybe they need to look at the straight facts. Go look at the rockets record minus yao with tracy playing. Take into account the 2nd most productive offensive when yao was down was rafer. Also maybe they need to look at the guy playing on a bad knee, busted shoulder, and 3 rookies playing major minutes. When he said about a big that can blk shots, rebound, run the floor, I thought about mbenga who was sitting there last offseason for the minimum. Couldve offered him Barry's contract for 4 yrs and wouldve had yao's backup set.
So are you saying that Morey is lying? Does that go against what people think of him? Can Morey just being telling it like he sees it as opposed to how you want it??
yeah i think too much is read into Morey's words....i'm sure some staff do talk up their players and maybe Morey has done it a bit before, or at a specific time and situation, but for him to do it consistently would lead to trouble. Eventually players would realize it and those involved would talk about it and those who werent involve would start being suspicious of Morey and not deal with him much....and as far as i know the players like Morey overall and vice versa.
Problem is, regardless of what Morey says about Tmac, all the gms in the league are aware of Tmac, er, proclivities, resulting in low trade value for us.
I felt some thing in my ponz when I listened to Daryl Morey talk about acquiring Marcin Gortat. I think a deal is going to happen once the deal can be worked (December 15th, I think?). Wonder who we would have to give up?
could be, orlando is severely overpaying for gortat since some games he doesn't even get 15 mins, what exactly did he say about gortat?
Bingo...I dont think that if Morey wasn't willing to pay him MLE money during the summer he would be up for it now. Shame too because I think he would be ideal for this version of the Rox.
A caller asked him about getting an athletic 7 footer that can block shots, rebound, and run the floor. Morey agreed, but pointed out that those types of big men are all spoken for. He then went on to recall his interest in Gortat, this past summer. He didn't say anything we did not already know, but I just got one of those 'things' down in the gutt.
