My Alumni Association (Morehouse College) is having a single player, double elimination Scholarship Pool Tourney at Slick Willies (Westheimer & Fountainview) on 11/21, starting at 11 am. The entry fee is $25 and the payouts are $300, $150 and $50. Do we have any pool sharks in here?
I forgot that MLK went there, and that they have pretty high end school. Which of course would attract students on a National level.
To respond to everyone: Most pool tourneys start early (pool halls don't want to give up their tables late, when most people pay to play). It's 8 ball, BCA rules. Double elimination, race to 2. There are a lot of Morehouse alumns in Houston (over 200). Houston high schools have a lot of black students, and a lot of good schools....so it's a major recruiting area for us. Spelman has a lot of alums here too, as well as Tuskegee (I was suprised they had so many). Basically any black school that recruits out of state is going to come to Houston.
If you pay your entry fee I'll be more than happy to set up a corner game for you. We get 10% of the cut though, lol....
What's the difference? I'm not a pool player like that and the guys helping us told us to run BCA rules.
Basically the only difference in the two, is one you just have to call the ball your shooting at into the pocket you expect it to drop, in BCA shot call you have to say everything the table will do. Example: I'm going to shoot the 4 into the corner pocket, the cueball will bounce off and hit the 9 into 3 into the rail and the 3 will stop, the cue ball will hit 2 more rails then stop here(then point to the spot you think it will stop). If you are right hey you get another shot, if wrong its a ball in hand, and depending on the quality of the players, your screwed.
