He is ok, but I would not think he is clutch just yet, you have to earn your clutch moniker, he is about average. DD
The 4th down throw to Johnson was super clutch. I think he's getting there. Ben Roethlisbeger last season should be the official definition of clutch.
I will say that Roethlisberger is higher on the clutch list than he is on the good QB list. And Schaub is higher on the good QB list than he is on the clutch list.
POLL: Who has a harder head....DD or Present Day Allen Iverson? You remind me of Skip Bayless, the things you both say make people scratch their heads and wonder, do you really think these things or do you just say this stuff to get people to talk about? We got a battle here people! This is shaping up to be a Astros vs Braves 2005 18 inning game v2.0! DD vs CometsWin, who is going to provide us with the most blind and substance-less Texans insight?! Until their next Pulitzer Prize winning posts we will never know...
I just think he is an OK QB......but he has played better than I thought he would....but he throws some head scratching picks......that make you think....huh.....how could he not see that guy? DD
Ooooh we've got a real battle here people!! The Schaub fans with their ever changing definitions of the subjective term clutch to build up their boy. Schaub is clutch for leading the drive where we missed the field goal that would have tied the game. CLUTCH! Remember that Super Bowl where Jim Kelly led the Bills down the field for that game winning field goal that Norwood missed? CLUTCH! Almost winning is the very definition of clutch. Seriously though, going into the year I thought Schaub was a top 10-12 QB. I think he's probably in the top 8 range about now despite his stats which I feel are inflated. The one thing that Schaub has really improved on that nobody has talked about is protecting the ball when he gets hit. He seemed to fumble the ball all the time last year and this year he's still throwing his picks but at least he's not fumbling the ball. We'll see how he closes the year out.
1) The kicker missing an easy FG affects Shcaub's clutch factor? 2) How are his stats "inflated?" That doesn't even make sense
Umm...that is CLUTCH! How is it Schaub's fault that Brown missed that field goal? He worked a great "two minute" drill with no timeouts and put is in position to tie the game...what is not clutch about MATT SCHAUB right there? The question was is MATT SCHAUB clutch not are the HOUSTON TEXANS clutch or KRIS BROWN clutch? CometsWin and his never changing selective vision at it again
Clutch is something that is ultimately determined by your accomplishments. You're not clutch until you've been clutch, to put it in a paradoxical way. Schaub is not clutch. He's got the potential to be clutch, but in my opinion, right now, he's a very good QB that has hot stretches and some wayward passes. His receiving corps and the Kubiak playbook don't ever get enough credit for the factor they play in his performance. At present, I've seen more anti-clutch moments (even if they are on the heels of a 300 yd passing day) from Schaub than clutch. Again, he's very good. But I wouldn't label him as clutch yet. Evan
So in a nutshell, as long as the team wins the game the person is clutch? You also know there is such a thing called a "Clutch play"
