Also known as the "F*** Buddy". Anyone ever have one? I personally never have. I'm not looking or anything, and even if I was, I wouldn't know the first thing about getting in like that. I've always been the sweet guy in the friend zone. Of course, this is brought on by the AshleyMadison.com thread and the relationaship quandary threads.
I had it in college. Things were pretty awesome at first. I mean, it was the end of my freshman year, and I wasn't really all that experienced at the time, and she was pretty into me, so things progressed pretty naturally. I could sense things started getting a little weirder after about 6 months, but luckily for me, right around that time, I got an awesome offer from another school, so I moved away. We're still decently good friends to this day, so I'm glad things worked out the way they did. I don't think a real relationship would have ever materialized between the two of us (had nothing in common, plus her parents were strict Christians, and I'm Hindu), and I doubt we would have remained friends if I had stayed there.
I had a couple in my younger years (late teens/early 20s). It RULED at the time. I had girlfriends that were serious and the sex was good (as good as it can be at that young an age). But, the f**kbuddy sex was GREAT! Something about having non-committal sex...just for fun...was just awesome. I can't imagine it now, though. I guess I'm officially Old. Oh, well...

The best f buddy I ever had, and I've had a few, was the girl who lived nextdoor to me for a year in college, our townhouses were touching. Now, she wasnt the hottest girl on the block, but it was so convenient. We both had our needs, took care of business a few times a week and went our seprate ways after we were done. And, I dated her best friend while we were f buddies... I guess she wasnt a very good friend, lol.
Every time I get one (2-3 times ever) I don't take advantage of it very much. And it kind of fades. I don't know why. Its like 3 times a month max. I guess it keeps things at the right distance though.
What I'm wondering for those who had f buddies, how did it happen? Did you just ask her straight up " DO you want to become f buddies?" or did you just have sex one night and just continue having sex after that?
This is usually the best approach. It typically works best in environments such as grocery stores and Starbucks.
What is your definition of f*** buddy? Is it anyone you mess around with on a regular basis that is not your signifcant other? If thats the case then I don't see any difference between dating several women and having several f*** buddies. As long as you are upfront with the women and make sure they understand that you are NOT exclusive.
Lived with 2 chicks a few years back. Like one of them. Although it was nothing more than just the hook up thing. Always just friends the morning after. She was a good friend of my sisters and always found it weird or something. But didn't bother me, I was cool with just the hookups.
Personally, I would think it would be more of not a date situation and just a friend that likes to get laid...no strings attached.
I probably shouldn't talk about this but in the interest of helping someone else I'm going to weigh in. I've had a few relationships that could be considered friends with benefits and you definately have to be upfront and honest about them. If either party isn't there can be a lot of misunderstanding and hurt feelings. Especially if you do want to keep your friend a friend it better be clear to each of you that this isn't going further than recreational sex.
Had 4 different ones from college through meeting my wife (27 years old at the time). Luckily for me, none of them turned out to be nuts. It was great
