It looks like Chase is more than enough of a replacement to Von

Von was great in transition...absolutely deadly. Freak athlete with freekish hops. Moved good with out the ball but not a great passer and always looked to score seldom looked to set up his team mates.

I think Chase brings a lot of what Von brought. Great outside shot. Can get to the rim, and great in transition. Chase seems to have a higher BBIQ and plays better defense than Von.

Personally I love both these players. I still wish we had Von on the team. Could you imagine the second unit running in transition with both Von and Chase on the floor!!

I understand that this is a business and Morey has to consider if a player is worth using up the salery cap and decided that Von was just not worth what he was asking. I have no problem with that. Having said that I am not going to slam Von just because I like Chase.

BTW, if I had to choose between the two players at equall salery I would take Chase.

 

Well the Spurs had TP who specializes in 1 man fastbreaks, KG could run as fast as anyone and the Lakers had Kobe, Gasol and Odom to run the break. The Rox had who exactly? The Stro show? Yao Ming? Rafer Alston? We didn't run simply because our roster sucks and is as slow as molasses.

Besides who was our coach? Mike D' Antoni? JVG was never a fan of the running game, his offense is centered around Yao Ming and pnrs with Tmac...where exactly does that fit into a running game?

You have to see it from two sides of the coin. Yes, walking the ball allows the defense to set up, but it also gives Yao time to fight for position in the post, for Alston to camp his ass on the 3 pt line. With the new rules of the NBA that prohibits hand checks against guards and the defensive 3 secs rule, a well executed offense can beat even the most dogged and desperate defense 100% of the time and get a player a very clean, wide open chance at the basket. Spurs may have had fast breaks, but they didn't win those 3 rings by running the basket, its by grinding their opponents in a half court setting. To find a team that relies on fb and won the championship, you'd probably have to go all the way back to the Showtime Lakers. If the rest of the teams won by the half court setting, then what the hell is wrong with walking the ball up?

Its ignorance from Tmac haters like that I find downright disgusting.

For those that question Von's athleticism or vertical. Von can definitely catch an ally oop.

That may be true but I am betting that Andersen will be an asset come January.

 

no. when tracy returns, andersen will be very valuable off the bench.

plus, chase and von play the same position and score in the same ways. and who's going to get more time?

Don't need to respond to any of this with basketball... Chase's killer instinct in volleyball is enough for me.

 

I like Chase, and I miss Von.
