I don't know what your post, thread or topic is about, but I just wanted to say that you have one of the greatest monikers I've ever seen.

    I'm sorry guys, typo.

But I mean, in terms of playability, reliability etc...

Are they both the same along those lines of interest?

Well, as offshoots of bigger brands (Fender and Gibson), I'd put a lot more trust in an Epiphone than a Starcaster or Squire. At least I know that Epiphone puts out some damned fine guitars. I don't know about their low end models though.

Fender revived the name and put it on a line of beginner electric guitars. But yeah, the current line has no relation to the 70s Starcasters except for the name.

    6 years holy cow!!!!!?!?!

I heard the epiphone special 2 is a nice guitar but ends of falling apart after the 1st year and the strings aren't easy to tune.

    $170 http://gummibearheads.com/ign/r****d_keyboard.gif

    Really good price.

And in terms of sound, i actually like the LPs b.c they have that heavier kind sound. I wish i could afford something better though :(

I don't have that problem with mine. I go weeks between tuning the strings. I heard that the good and the bad thing about epiphone is that there's really not that much difference in quality between the lower end models and the higher end ones, so low end epiphones are great bargains. I don't have anything to complain about mine. :)

Look for a used guitar. I was able to find a near perfect RG470 for under 200$ with a few paint chips. It's like cars, they make so many models every year and the used market is full of deals.

Its been a few years since I looked for anything, but I highly considered a Made in Mexico Strat and was finding them for 200-240. Its perfect for those wanting to get in and can last you a while until you upgrade. Not only that but it's a favorite to those who like to modify theirs.

do NOT get starcaster. it's worse than Squire stratocasters. of course, you can always find a decent starcaster after trying out many different ones and find the best one. but generally, stay away from starcaster or Gibson Baldwin series (i think that's the name).

go to guitar center or best buy that has a full music store. epiphone LP special II is the better of the two. i sold mine to someone on this forum. it's a good beginner guitar but i remember it was pretty heavey.

since you have about $200 dollars, i would save a bit more, say to $250 to $300. you can get an used made in mexico Fender stratocaster. that's way better than the two you listed. a lot players get a MIM stratocaster and swap out the electronics and it sounds real good. i would go for an used MIM Fender stratocaster.
