The Spers should have kept Scola. That trade looks dumber by the day. Very uncharacteristic of their management to do something that stupid, and thank god they did!
Bowen's defensive mentality gave the team their identity. He wasn't a top NBA defender for nothing. Kobe didn't complain about him because he was soft. Kind of had the same role for the spurs that Shane and Chuck have for us now.
Meh, the Spurs always put in on cruise control in the regular season. So you never know with them. Especially this year, when they're trying to integrate some new player, and young ones. It takes a while before one can accurately gauge their true potential. That said, they have to fall off the cliff one of these years, right? They can't possibly keep this up forever.
I dont put anything pas the Spurs or Kobe anymore. When I do I find them buring us up or making us pay for that. I will just let them go quietely into the night without getting anything to get fired up about anymore. Things like telling Kobe or the Spurs they dont have it only tend to fuel these types of players. So I wont give them the satisfaction.
I think they'll be fine. Jefferson and Parker are still young, they have a nice surrounding cast. They never start off great. Come playoff time, they'll be fine.
McGrady for Manu + rights to Splitter & De Colo in a heartbeat. Too bad the salaries are too hard to match up. Maybe it was an effect of all those rabies shots? Several more of those to go
if they are healthy they have a chance.. lets not forget the spurs usually cruise through the regular season and turn it up a notch in the playoffs.. especially duncan
I think they have a lot of new players and need to find their chemistry. What Moes says is right though.....not counting them out....not now... DD
Everyone keeps saying they turn it on come playoff time. Well that wasn't the case last year, but they did have serious injuries. So if they stay healthy I expect for them to be in contention come playoff time.
ownership didnt want to pay him - thats all it came down to. ive got alot of family in s.a. who were following scola w/ anticipation before he came to the nba. my uncle was always talking up how good he was, and he was right! scola to the rockets still pisses him off.
I was in Argentina last weekend, and on Argentina ESPN Sportscenter, pretty much every single highlight of the NBA was of the Spurs, and the highlight packages basically featured every single one of Ginobili's baskets, steals, or assists. Kind of funny. They were also heavily touting their live telecast of the upcoming Spurs-Rockets (Ginobili-Scola) matchup.
I liked it. I thought it was like Spain with less history but more sophisticated/educated populace. The food is excellent, lots of meat obviously.
