I understand that, but I still think the difference is huge. A Chris Paul flop gets the ref to call a foul where there was NONE. A lowry "flop" involves getting fouled, and even tho he might have the strength to get the ball up, makes sure the ref sees the foul by exaggerating it. That flop given by Artest last night when he and Scola were going for that loose ball was pretty nice tho.
Ron Ron is funny when he flops. In the pre-season last year, he was getting in Paul Pierce's head and did a whale of a flop that made me laugh.
I'm with the rest of you guys, Scola has no shame when it comes to flopping. The dude seriously hits the freaking deck within moments of being posted up. He also gets pretty dirty on the offensive end. Actually, he's just kinda plays dirty all around, but every team's gotta have one I guess? He gets this "who me?" look on his face that I'm sure really pisses everyone off.
Scola is an annoying defender so I'm going to say the opponent is just retaliating harder than normal.

Flopping is not inherently part of the game. It only works because incompetent referees continue to reward it.

I just wish they'd look for the most minor contact with the feet after a flop and call that on the defender. ... Regiie Miller was an all time great flopper, but Derek Fisher holds the prize. Even better than Ginobili or Divac.
flopping has been around since the beginning of the NBA, when opponents tried to foul out NBA's first super star George Mikens. flopping has been around a lot longer than the 3-second rule, goal-tending rule, 3-point shot it has been an integral part of the game since the beginning days.
Maybe their "sell" is better b/c of the hair swaying on the fake jerk back, but Fisher use to flop with such regularity and audacity (plus the refs dying to give that Lakers team calls) I still maintain he holds the prize. MVF (Most Valuable Flopper) for about 5 years running 99-04. Is Varajao last years MVF?

If Lowry is a flopper, then Wade is a much bigger one. So was Iverson in his prime. They play the same way, throwing their bodies at the defender and draw foul.
I've said it many times before. Offensive flopping is much more of a problem than defensive flopping. Defensive flopping, you at least have to gain good defensive position in order to flop. That in itself is a basketball skill. Offensive flopping, you just need to run into people and act like you got shot. No skill, other than acting, needed. During last year's playoffs series, I noticed that Pao Gasol was flopping while setting pick. That was the most despicable kind of flopping, imo.
