when hayes fouled out why was cook brought into the game instead of andersen?? i thought cook was for blowouts only not 1 pt OT games vs defending champs
Probably as a rebounder, which was the need at the time. I know Cook isn't a great rebounder but he doesn't get pushed around as easily.
Cook has 3 point range. Andersen does not. If I'm RA I trust Pops more than Andersen right now. Pops matches up against big post players defensively better than anyone not named Chuck Hayes.
Cook has some pretty long arms. I wouldn't be surprised if his wingspan and standing reach more than compensate for the couple of inches Andersen has on him in height. More importantly, even Cook boxes out better than Andersen at this point. Cook is a bonafide scrub but he's been banging around with NBA players for years where as Andersen has only been doing it for a few weeks.
If it was about rebounding he should have brought in the human foul machine...I mean Dorsey or Pops even. I think Cook was purely because of his 3pt range which RA may have needed. I really wish AB would have called a TO when he was trapped though
I think that was his reasoning, Cook's shooting could open the floor and give Aaron more room to drive. You're loosing rebounding either way so Cooks 3 pt shooting is why he went with him.
Didn't they bring him in while the Lakers were shooting free throws then take him right back out? I don't think offense had anything to do with it.
Good question, I don't remember if he stayed in. Hey I'm just speculating maybe it was for rebounding purposes.
Coach simply realizes that Anderson is not quite ready to be thrust into a potentially traumatizing situation. He is easing him in gradually. Why would this be so difficult to figure out?
He was in the game for the rebound on the free throw then was taken out when the Rockets got the ball back.
Whaat? DA does have 3 point range...cook wasn't even in the lineup on the offensive end, they knew they had a time out, cook was in there for rebounding purposes
huh? Andersen is 6'11.5 Cook is 6'10.75 So the height is hardly an issue at all. Cook also has a 7'2 wingspan - so he's probably well and truly got the 'reach' advantage there. More likely it was an experience thing - or perhaps Adelman is trying to get a message to Andersen "get physical or don't get on the floor".
Lol, some funny reasons posted. It's simply because Cook is the better rebounder/defender of the two. He was taken out as soon as we secured the rebound.
