that was the dumbest statement ive heard all day, i guareentee atleast one of maddux, brown, and torres will make the team but most likely 2 of them and maybe all 3 of them
Doc is not your typical bbs poster to say the least. He may be wrong but he has more information than the rest of us to base his opinions on.
I hope that they bring in the kid Mouton from Maryland. If OT is not the answer at back-up SG then PLEASE bring in Predrag SAVOVIC. Unless the Rocks want to throw more dollars at a back-up position, see MOOCH, and bring in a proven vet. Bonzi Wells? I'd prefer Artest or even Eddie Jones, if the Rocks have the money to spend. Trade sounds better than overpaying in FA. But I'd rather have the young-uns, SAVO or Mouton.
That's interesting! I always got the feeling that the Rockets wanted to keep 3 PGs on the team, even if one of them is on IR. And if we want to be "two deep" at every position then we need a backup shooting guard. That means that if the Rockets do not keep Maddox, Torres or Tierre, then they will be looking for TWO more players. I just have to believe that at least ONE of those 3 mentioned above would stick with the team. I guess the summer league games will be HUGE for the 3 players mentioned above. That is their time to shine to impress the coaches to make the team. Not to jump off topic too much but I am curious....those that know a lot about Nachbar....can he slide over and play some spot back up minutes at the 2 spot? He has nice size, 6'9", but does he have the quickness to guard other 2's for short stretches of time? Chris
Achebe,Rice has two more years on his contract and I think the chances of trading Taylor is almost zero because of his injury even though your sources could be right.
LOL But what does your source say? Mine say "whatever happens happens, and we were right about it all along". lol
Nachbar should do ok against other 3's but I don't think he cover the 2's very well. He is quick butnot as quick as the 2's.
well that was the dumbest statement I'VE heard all day. How can you guarantee things when you're just the average fan? Doc Rocket is in the organization somehow, and yet you're calling him dumb?
Just because the Rox are looking around the league(as expected, nothing new here), doesn't mean none of those 3 will make the team. If there is a trade involving any of the above players, I could possibly see none of them returning if one of the other summer leaguers makes a splash, but only in that scenario which as I stated.
My question is this: Why draft Maddox if he is such a long shot to make the team? Was there no one else available that had a better chance?
I was so dissapointed when the Rockets picked Maddux. He's not a bad player, but we already have 2, maybe 3 PG better then him. We should have taken another European player that wont be with us for a couple of years and then waited on him, like the CLippers did when they picked Marco Jaric in 2000 with their 2nd round pick. Jaric would probably be a 1st rounder in this draft. The guy the Rockets should have looked at was Mladen Sekularac, the 20-yr-old Yuogoslavian SG who people said would go in the first round. As it turns out, he slipped to the Mavs. Or even Ron Grizzard or Pedrag Savovic. Those guys would have given Torres a run for his job.
I got to see Maddox play a couple of years ago, and the guy is pretty good. He is extremely quick and looks for the open man. He thinks pass first, shoot second. That is what you want out of your back up PG. Mooch hit a ton of key shots down the stretch, but his mindset is dribble first (for 20 secs) then pass, then jack up something crazy when no one is open. He is only clutch when Stevie sets him up at the buzzer... Tito will come in and surprise some people. He will come a lot cheaper than Mooch, I think the Rox should look to move Mooch to Detroit for a future pick or something.
