The City of Houston is Bankrupt. http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2009/10/city-of-houston-is-bankrupt-so-are.html Stunning, shocking, but somehow not surprising. The most interesting mention in the article IMO is that this info was circulated to all press & officials in Houston and not a peep from anyone...
Obviously, I'm a Rockets fan too, but I find your reply typically pointless. BTW, you could not have possibly read the article that quick. How very informed of you.
The whole freakin' country is bankrupt, and Houston is doing far better than most. I just watched an interview segment with two top economists, one of whom was Niall Ferguson, and my GOD did he depress me! I found it incredibly depressing precisely because it made so much sense. All I know is Warren Buffett will rue the day
yes D E P R E S S I N G ... DEPRESSION ... by design. All of the financial base is moving to Dubai UAE & China.
"Bankrupt" is a relative term. Houston is 1.5B in debt according to that. Interesting that it is saying that it was built in the past 6 years. I certainly didn't see 300M worth of significant improvements every year for the past 6. Seems fishy. Regardless, it falsely assumes sales and property taxes will go down. Apparently these firms haven't noticed the mass influx of people moving to Texas. Cut the budget, and we'll be fine.
I'm sure if they named it the "Freedom Bridge" and made it out of steel girders from the World Trade Center, you'd feel exactly the same way, right?
