...but watching this team run....as much as I love Yao, I have to say... ...he was in the way. so shoot me.
Our offense is still middle-of-the-pack in efficiency, and our defense has slipped significantly. Forcing more turnovers, shooting more threes, scrapping more for loose balls. Also getting outsized on the boards, lack a stable go-to player in the half court, and have no shot-blocking threat.
Oh yay lets run yay. How fun. Jazz are getting any shot they want right now. The only thing that keeps me from spitting on my own floor is Chuck Hayes manning it up.
4 games in. It might be fun to watch, but if it doesn't bring us wins, I prefer Yao and his inside presence. I'm already sick to death of the easy penetration to the basket every team is taking advantage of already.
Are you saying he was in the way physically or figuratively? Because if you are figuratively speaking you have absolutely no knowledge of basketball at all...just sayin.
The team can still run with Yao. It's not like David Andersen and Chuck Hayers are finishing the fast breaks.
A wise old woman named Edna Garrett once said "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both, and there you have, the facts of life..."
Im saying that physically Yao clogs up the paint...and many times, the lane options on the floor...because of his size and slowness. Im not saying its better or worse...it just IS. Yao's physical presence would impede the type of offensive running that the ROX are executing with ease right now. if this team has any success this year, and Yao comes back next season, he's going to have to learn to play the center position in a totally different way...similar to the way Kareem played with the Lakeshow in the mid-80s...as opposed to the Hakeem method. its just a different team...and, like it or not, it looks GOOD. Granted, its early...but it looks good.
We did a bit of running and gunning when we sat Yao. I much preferred our change of pace that we could dish out when we did have Yao. Now, not so much. We just have to make sure our 3's fall. I can say this as of right now... Ariza's 3's > Artest's 3's
THAT is what im excited about. TMAC, in THIS offense...its more what he was built for. The halfcourt game hurt TMac's overall production, IMO. Yao FORCES that type of methodical 'slow down'. Im not saying its bad: again, I love YAO. But the facts are that this type of offense is what Adelman is a genius at crafting.
Utah is using their size advantage vs. us so your assumption is way off. I love to see the Rockets run as much as anyone else but I'd take a boring win over an exciting loss.
Yao aint Shaq...but he aint Hakeem either, baby. Yao aint know for his speed and agility. I love the guy, but he spends a great amount of the game on his behind on the floor. Facts is facts.
Run and gun are fun to watch but they don't win championship and that's the bottom line. Of cause I don't see Rockets winning championship with Yao as their franchise player!
