Kubiak just said James Casey got his knee scoped and should return to action after the bye. Man, when it rains it pours. Hello Anthony Hill.
More like hello Joel Dressen. I was really hoping that we'd finally be able to see what Casey can do but I guess we're gonna have to wait and see.
I didn't watch the whole game, on the radio this morning (forgot which show), they quoted him as saying he felt like his knee gave out for a moment on a catch he made or dropped or something.
Let me throw a wild idea out there...Connor Barwin has plenty of TE experience in high school and college. Desperate times call for desperate actions.
when it rains it pours. Sucks on so many levels. I think Dreesen is servicable. I'm anxious to see how Hill does. Some great plays have come out of the 3 TE set however, (ie. great playaction calls). Tough to see how they will handle this. Maybe Barwin can get it done in spot minutes.
I think this is a chance to put Slaton and Moats in the game at the same time. Let Slates get some plays out wide and see how the Colts defend it. Do they keep Sanders in the box? If so, try to single up Slaton on a LB or nickle DB. If they move Sanders onto Slates, gash them with Moats. This could be a very interesting game of chess for Kubiak and Baby Shan...What we've been doing against the Colts on offense has been working (although it's been with Sage under center). I don't doubt that the offensive coaches can come up with a good gameplan, I'm really curious to see how Bush and crew approach Manning.
Hill should have nearly a 6 inch height advantage on the Colt smurf linebackers. If he ever was going to get a chance to shine in goal line situations, this is it.
I am real intrigued by Anthony Hill. He has great size and is good blocker from what I read. He also put up solid receiving numbers when he was healthy in college.
How about drafting all those tight ends now? Really wish Thor could be out there to get his experience up. Time for 4 wide receiver sets?
When the Texans were 2-0 two years ago we got excited but lost Andre Johnson to injury leading up to the game with the Colts. The football gods have been trying to keep up from getting 3 games over .500!
I agree, he looked pretty good vs TB in the preseason finally but I did notice he did put the ball on the ground which I know Kubiak hates. Honestly I say we got more 3 wide 1 TE sets and let JJ/DA loose, lets see what they got on the big stage.
Well, Dreesen was already going to be the guy stepping in for Daniels. Casey being out doesn't impact us anywhere near the extent that it would had Dreesen gotten a scope. Dreesen's already the best blocking TE on the team, while Casey was going to be a huge unknown with virtually no experience. Walter, Anderson, Jones, and Davis provide adequate depth for the receiving corps, though losing our second best target is a massive blow. I was hopeful to see Casey, been wanting him out there in 2TE sets all season, but I heard that his scope was to repair a meniscus. If that's true, he's probably out until Dec. Being optimistic, I'm hoping Dreesen and Moats step in and boost the running game to offset OD's loss in the passing. Evan
Texans had a workout last week with tight ends Carson Butler and Dezmond Sherrod. Butler signed with the 49ers practice squad since then. However the Texans still could sign to him to their active roster but have to keep on their 53 man roster for 3 weeks minimum.
We can get by with a subpar Tight End. He won't get nearly the targets that Daniels did, and we still have: Andre Johnson Kevin Walter David Anderson Jacoby Jones Andre Davis Ryan Moats We still have tons of weapons without OD. Losing him is a punch to the face, but I think we can get by without one star.
