There's a short article in the latest Time about this new fad. I guess I'm not cool cause I haven't seen it yet. The article mentions Avril Lavigne, Kelly Osbourne, and Alicia Keys as the trendsetters. Has anyone seen this yet or is it a Cali thing? It looks funny to me. Actually I'm glad I haven't seen this yet cause I couldn't keep a straight face...
chics at my highschool wore ties, only cool chics of course. i dont think its that bad... i have several ties from value village, who doesn't (edit: btw i am a man i have big man balls.)
I dunno what the **** is up with that pic...rocker chic's at my school been doing that thang since 99 plus a penny. I'm tellin you fools, the Strokes look is the next big thing. New wave mootha suckas! Skinny ties, tight suit and old beat up Converses. Monkey wears a tie cos she wants to look like a man
Interesting. Never saw this in high school and haven't seen it yet in college...not even on the Drag.
And little one-inch badges. The girls with ties thing is part of the same general trend. I have the badges and the black and white outfits, but not the tie. Hrm. New Wave is a cool period...
Hmmm...Why in the hell would anyone want to wear a tie?? I just don't understand it, especially if beautiful women (ones that looks like supermodels) want to do it. *sigh* BTW - Ninja - I'm listening to the Strokes right now.
I wore ties in the mid-nineties when I was an editor at a newspaper. Of course, I didn't wear them with tank tops like the girl in the photo. I wore them with khaki pants, button-down shirts and, usually, a vest. I was very enamored of the Annie Hall look. My favorite ties were a black one with a big white coffee cup on it and one that was printed with a map of Route 66. It had a little car and trailer that you could pin on it.
Girls with ties..... hmm... didn't Sigmund Freud have a theory about that? some type of envy? huh...my memory escapes me...
Although poor Mr. Freud had many theories, I don't believe females in ties = penis envy was one of them. Though he was inordinantly fond of that little appendage, wasn't he?
As Shakespeare once said. There is not Fashion. There are only hot women and ugly women who choose to wear something.
I think that's Paula Poundstone... whatever happened to her, anyway? Didn't she have some charges levied against her for some really really bad stuff?
New fad? Women have been wearing ties since the 1920s at least. The fad faded long enough recently that people started to think it was novel again.
