Here are the current odds for teams in the west to win the conference: Dallas Mavericks 6-1 Denver Nuggets 70-1 Golden State Warriors 70-1 Houston Rockets 50-1 Los Angeles Clippers 20-1 Los Angeles Lakers 1-1 Memphis Grizzles 60-1 Minnesota Timberwolves 20-1 Phoenix Suns 50-1 Portland Trail Blazers 20-1 Sacramento Kings 5-2 San Antonio Spurs 6-1 Seattle Supersonics 35-1 Utah Jazz 35-1 There are 9 teams ahead of us and we are tied with the suns. So, they are betting that we will finish 10th or 11th in the conference. WHAT A FREAKIN JOKE!
Odds are not a prediction of future success. They merely reflect how much money has been placed on each team. If a lot of money goes on one team, they will shorten the odds so as to discourage future gamblers from betting on that team. It doesn't necessarily mean they have a better chance.
The exact same way... Vegas doesn't want to have to shift the lines to begin with... I don't know too many people who will be betting on the Rockets to win the West next year.
C'mon. What the heck does betting odds have to do with winning? If I had to bet, the Kings will win the West and the Lakers will win the Championship. If you want to give us the odds on something, give us the odds on whether the Rockets will make the playoffs or not. Afterall, that is more pragmatic. By the way, what was the odds on the Patriots last year?
