No, it's because they went from this... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/o22EBBFvyvQ&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/o22EBBFvyvQ&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> to this... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SuvZlCaLLP4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SuvZlCaLLP4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I actually liked the BEPs earlier stuff but this album just doesn't do it for me at all. Might work great in a club, but offers little value otherwise.
Who cares? I mean, really. So they changed their look and their music to entertain more people. LETS HATE THEM. wow. some of you are seriously ignorant. None of you have ever changed your clothing style over the past decades? you have? OH YOURE A SELL OUT!
there are people that don't even know that the Black Eyed Peas were a hip hop group before Fergie ever joined them. of course this sounds like a "I knew about them before they sold out" post, but the band they were is absolutely nothing compared to the band they are now. I saw them in an underground hip hop club around 99 or 2000. it was a real hip hop show with the small crowd soaking up all of the band's energy. three rappers were doing their thing that night. I didn't call myself a fan but I enjoyed the experience and the performance of the band. flash-forward ten years and they are doing all of this corporate promo CRAP that you hear on the radio, with Fergie as their frontwoman and three sellouts in the background who act like pusses...
look no further than KingCheetah's post to see the difference... and the current songs mentioned in this thread by the OP are even worse than ever. pure grabage
Too each is own. but I think at this point . . .we, humans in genreal, are not that deep. People probably eat more Candy than Veggies This is mental Candy Rocket River
As much as they lost you guys as fans, they gained many more. Music is music and if you don't like it, you don't like it. Quit being haters. Look at Michael Jackson, a lot of people in his time thought he sold out when he made thriller. Before that, he was this kiddie guy and then he became "bad". But that was his greatest album.
I liked the BEPs when they first came out. They had a unique sound, and I think Fergie wasn't yet part of the group. I don't like what they put out now, but to be fair, they are geniuses for making hits. They always put out platinum records, but that's not any sign of good music. Will I Am is a decent producer and I like some of the work he's done with legit rappers. As for their current stuff, it's a pop dream. Kids love it, girls love it and it's catchy. They must be doing something right.
Pretty hot, I guess. But You can get the audio from the maria sharapova vs. Serena williams tennis match, layer it with some original techno beats that you sampled while lodging with the techno twins in europe, and it would probably be a hit in 2009. If were a member of the FCC and had nothing to do, I would go after any radio station that plays the same songs every hour on the hour, charge them with payola. I really love radio but they could mix it up a little more. =( Back to the black eyed peas, I think fergie has a really nice voice though. :flashes back to the "fergie..would you hit it.." thread:
Not only was Off the Wall not perceived as "kiddie"... as you call it.. But, a lot more people in his time thought he had finally come into his own with Thriller... That album was not only commercially successful--a.k.a appealing to the masses.. it was highly acclaimed by critics as well.. which is the last Black Eyed Peas album to've achieved that...? your analogy is piss-poor in relevance and prespective to say the least..
I'm sure he can come back and say BEP won some grammys (which im sure they did as the grammys are trash), but then again kings of leon won "best new artist" or something this year.. even though they have been around for a couple of years and have produced much better stuff than that discharge known as "use somebody". <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gS9FOlL47v0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gS9FOlL47v0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I blame Obama. If the recession had gotten worse, music would get better. If Bush is in office you can at least get passionate against something. It's the happy talk, dance thing that is boring.
