You are out to get me, and I now all I will ever talk about is statement 5 and half of statement 8! (what never gets said): And about statements 1,2,3,4,6,7,9,10,11,&12? From global warming to race, it is a disingenuous way to discuss anything. Essentially, it says "I have no well-founded case, but if I find even one leak in your case, I win by default." I guess it just amazes some of us the degree to which they are destructive for the national discourse. See my longer post about my own father. I want to learn from his wisdom, but he only regurgitates the latest false propaganda from these snake-oil salesmen. Yeah dad, "CZARS!11!11." Once upon a time, we had really interesting conversations and I was learning a ton. There's nothing for me to learn in the piles of red herrings that these toads generate. It's just very sad. That one anecdote, of my own situation, says a lot about the countries dialogue. I mean, even on this board. I'm not saying it's purely restricted to these clowns, or one "side," but these guys have perfected the art of driving people apart and being negative about a whole group of people as the source of all evil: "liberals."

There is a very good reason why nobody knows what he says. Nobody cares!! He probably has more liberal listeners who only listen to find reasons to bash him.
Oh please. I work with someone who takes him as gospel, thinks he's never said anything that stretched the truth and thinks he's the best representative of the Republican party in history after Reagan. Lots of people care. He isn't rated as highly as he is because nobody cares what he says. Michael Steele didn't take it like a punk because nobody cares what Rush says.
I wish I believed that. I don't think the far right wing alone netted him an income of $48M or whatever it was last year.
It's not just the extremists. I don't know how ANYBODY could dismiss the importance of Rush to the GOP. I don't know any conservative outside of this board that dismisses him so quickly as "unimportant." They may not be faithful listeners, but they don't denounce him. I understand that he is an embarrassment to most thinking-Republicans, but don't try to dismiss his influence within the party. The chairman of the RNC had to publicly apologize for saying what everyone was thinking, for chrissake. He's revered by many many people.
Be fair. There is a huge difference between, at worst, insensitive remarks and flat out monstrous statements which were completely made up.
No, it is the howard stern deal. The quote was something like people who like him listen 1 hour, people who hate him listen 2 hours per day. I think the same thing is why Fox news is so popular.

If you insist. When we go see Mrs. B-Bob's southern family though, FoxNews is on 24-7, and every time Obama appears on the television, this one relative (she's 75) unleashes a string of profanities. Sometimes she stands up and calls him a "(n-word) communist" and throws things at the TV (not making this up.) It is a passion play and Obama is the devil and Fox has this woman completely hooked. That seems to be the business model, and the data of their ratings seems to support that... not liberals watching for 2 hours instead of 1.
