I think its not sold out in part* because more people want to go to the Lakers game next week. There was a thread about the Rockets "scalping" their own tickets... well, by charging too much for the Lakers game fans won't have enough money for other games (even if those other games are discounted). Pretty sad that during these hard economic times the Rockets are squeezing their loyal fans *Halloween and the UT-OKState game are factors too
They aren't squeezing. They have been charging more for the premium games for the last few years. Nothing new. I don't see how some ticket broker can come in here and throw a temper tantrum about ticket sales and everyone just assumes that he was bringing to light a new situation. They have gone to the 5 tier pricing for the last few years. Nothing new.
30 - 40 % of fans at toyota center are oriental, about 80% of those oriental are only there to watch Yao Ming and really dont care as much about the rest of the team, there is your drop in attendance there.
i was told oriental was offensive... (just for future reference) I just thought it was opening night, it should be sold out regardless. Didnt really think of the haloween factor. No Yao. No McGrady. So what? But i guess only people here have that kind of attitude
I know that the prices have been higher for the premium games, but this year they are MUCH higher. Trust me, I've bought single game tickets before. I like that the team has some good multiple game packages that seem like a nice value but I mean $320 or so after fees for two lower level level lakers tickets just seems a little unfair. I guess I'll just buy them from the scalpers on StubHub if I really want to go. Probably just catch this one on HD television
With what they are charging for Lakers tickets now I doubt even those games sellout. They will be lucky to have 2 or 3 sellouts for the entire season
The Oriental is not the issue here, Dude. I'm talking about attendance on opening night, Dude. Opening Night, you must sell out... Also, Dude, Oriental is not the preferred nomenclature. "Asian-American", please.
Stevierebel I think you are wrong on this because I came into town last year for a Lakers game because when the tickets went on sale I was able to grab a pair behind the basket on the lower level for $55 each... This year i was planning to do the same but there weren't any even available at $55 the same seats were now $85... So the pricing is definitely something new... And it pretty much turned me off on going to the game
