I forgot how high LeBron's contract numbers are... but wouldn't losing all of our team's expiring contracts be enough to sign him?

    Suddenly, the moniker makes sense...

Seriously though, we have no chance in hell. There are already some threads out there where posters have analyzed in depth what our salary cap situation will look like when LeBron (or another top-of-the-heap superstar) is unrestricted. We will not be in a position to make it work. Aim a little lower.

Ok... before this thread is deleted please indulge me, who DO we have a realistic shot at bagging? And on the unrealistic side, if Tmac and Yao both opt out, who could we get? (I really don't want to read through 17 pages of posts which i don't fully understand)

The only shot the Rockets have at LeBron is if he was miraculously convinced that by playing with Yao and getting an entry into the Chinese market he could more than make up for the US losses he would suffer by spurning NYC for Houston (and that was his primary consideration).

A very interesting point. Long shot I know, but that Chinese connection makes for all kinds of interesting possibilities...

Lebron would not come here regardless of who was here playing

    :(

Well with Lebron out the window not a lot. We would have to trade a player in order to clear cap space before we could legitimately even considering trying to bag a superstar. Without that we can't offer any free agent superstar next year what other teams can. But what's with these threads? C'mon people off-season is over. Enough with these threads and let's focus on this year.

I was under the impression that we could potentially have a huge cap free up if Tmac and Yao opt out. Is this just not going to happen or am I just completely missing something?

Let me make this easy for you:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4743200&postcount=152

This one post should have just about everything you need to know, without you having to scroll through all 17 pages.

I tried to spell everything out slowly to make it easier to understand, so don't be afraid of the length of the post. It is long for your benefit.

    Enjoy!

3rd one to use that joke so far.

BIMAThug- Thanks for that link it does clarify a lot in my mind, however I did not see how that post addresses the possibility of losing Tmac and Yao's salaries, however unlikely that may be.

I am not a fan of lebron to be honest, but I think if we market it right, we might have a shot. This is the guy who wants to goto market, hes looking for exposure more so than anything else (given that hes been considering knicks when cavs are better built for him/and hes the guy who said he wants to be the first basktball billionaire not best ball player) so his mindset is on exposure and being this global icon

well we have francis, bonzi getting shoe deals in chinca and great exposure...basically if you play with Yao Ming you are going to get amazing exposure and fans in China...so that could be a big factor for lebron

    *two thumbs up*

CF proclaims Morey as a god, however he hasn't trully been tested till now. By the end of next offseason, we will really know how good MOrey is. He makes great low key moves, but he is yet to show us his chops with large scale moves.

Who knows if Yao is even coming back? If the Yao factor is taken out, then no one will want to come here, unless they want to use us as a stepping stone to score a buttload of points, and get a bigger contract when they become a free agent.

I think you mean "Now some guys are clearly NOT all about the money......."

Being that he took less with us to play a starter role or more minutes, which ever was the case.
