    (In order)

    1) Handsome Furs- Face Control
    2) Sunset Rubdown- Dragonslayer
    3) Bat for Lashes- Two Suns
    4) Nickle Eye- Age of Assassins (I was so impressed with this album)
    5) The Antlers- Hospice
    6) Miike Snow- Self Titled
    7) Grizzly Bear- Veckatamist
    8) Kid Cudi-- Man on the Moon
    9) Junior Boys- Begone Dull Care
    10) Memory Tapes- Seek Magic
    11) Bowerbirds- Upper Air
    12) Julian Plenti- Self Titled
    13) Bombay Bicycle Club- I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose

    Dissapointed with:

    Royksopp- Junior
    Mew- No More Stories

I was sorely dissapointed with Royksopp. This album
was way too upbeat for my liking, deviating from their
    usual chillingly, haunting sound.

Mew was also a let down. There were only 2-3 great
    tracks on this album.

Looking forward to in remainder of 2009 and 2010.

    Lymbyc System
    Royksopp- Senior
    The Album Leaf

    a-hem.

excuse me. I don't listen to "indie" music. I'm far too musically educated for that label. hmpf.

agree that there will be fireworks is an absolutely amazing album,

haven't really gone thru in details, but thinking what i play alot, my top 2 would probably be

    Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometown

Mumford and Sons - Sigh no More

after that there probably a bunch I'm keen on

    Avett brothers - I & Love & You

Bill Callahan - Sometime I wish we were an eagel

    Grizzly Bear - Veckameist

plus you can probably add the new swell Season and also new Daniel Johnston but haven't listened to them yet

for tax purposes the best albums lists always go by fiscal year, which ended in september.

As much love as that album gets, I really don't like it. There are a few tracks that I thought were ok, but I never got all the hype. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

I'll come up with a full list later, but for me Veckatimest is without a doubt my favorite album of the year so far.

Looking forward in 2010 to new Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire and hopefully Daft Punk and something from Radiohead.

I've tried and really tried to get into this band and album. I just can't though. I have this album and given it multiple listens but for some reason it doesn't work for me. There are a few good songs on it, but generally I base an album on its entirety, not just one or two songs.

So far Dream Theater's album Black Clouds and Silver Linings has ruled the year (haven't bought many CDs this year)...but I just got my copy of Transatlantic's Whirlwind in the mail today. Haven't listened to it yet but I'm going to go ahead and preemptively state that it will blow anything else I hear this year or the next 5 out of the water. I've been waiting for this CD for waaaay too long.

Also, despite owning all their albums (or so I thought), I had NO idea that Megadeth put out another CD this year. I'll have to check it out. Is it really that good? I was a bit disappointed in United Abominations.

What's their lineup these days? Last I read a few years ago, Mustaine fired Marty and brought back Poland. I haven't kept up since Youthanasia.

    My top albums:
    • Steven Wilson - Insurgentes
    • Dan Auerbach - Keep It Hid
    • Heartless Bastards - The Mountain

Actually, these are the only albums I've gotten this year. :D

Did you see them at the House of Blues a few weeks ago? The last time they played here, it was at Mary Jane's, which had a notoriously bad sound setup for bands (and the audience). They didn't play an encore because of it...at the House of Blues, Colin mentioned it on stage, and said he hoped that place burned to the ground.

They're show at Rudyard's five years ago is one of the best I've seen, but that'll never come around again.
