Gotta love it when Christians think they're being discriminated against when they simply aren't being afforded special privileges

Wasn't going to comment on this this but after TWO errors no less, DonnyMost needs to be slapped in the face to wake him up. Lol learn the difference between civil war and cold war. Your "cold war of 1866" was LMAO.

Anyway all the atheists arguing in favor of Home Depot, have no idea of the history of this country. God is connected to everything and starts with the Declaration of Independence. So you morons arguing your "rights" remember they're all God given to begin with.

I guess God didn't give those rights to the native peoples who had their ways of life stolen and their land raped and pillaged. Stingy b*stard.

Hardly controversial? Are you kidding me?

It is *fundamentally* a political/religious statement.... hell, maybe at its core the most important statement regarding government and religion you can make.

God (theology) + We (government) = Theocracy... no thank you...

The guy who we rebelled against, King George, also believed his rights were God given. So did Catholic in Good Standing Adolf Hitler. Is God an independent voter, or do politicians just claim her endorsement to bolster their own views?

Questionable move by Home Depot based on the facts we know. But I respect their right as a private business to fire anyone they want.

I think though that there is something we don't know. If this guy was an exemplary employee and got a long with everyone, I doubt this would have happened.

Of course wearing pins to work and refusing to take them off even when asked by his employers makes it hard for me to believe that he was an exemplary employee. I know some pretty devout Christians and they would not pull stuff like this at their workplace.

I question pin boy's judgement more than Home Depot's.

I would hope not. Providing he wasn't preaching out loud I'm not sure what his lunch time reading would have to do with his work. That said I think Home Depot was fine firing him if this was a uniform issue.

Anyway I thought this was an interesting comparision in regard to the hotel owner thread. In both cases there is an issue of an employer cracking down on employees for something personal. In this case it was the overt display of religion on a uniform while in the other was language and names. I would say in this case the person wasn't asked to change his religion but just remove a button that didn't agree with the uniform policy. Further this button isn't something innate to part of his religious identity so asking him to remove it would be reasonable. OTOH a name seems like somethign that is very innate to one's identity and asking someone to use a different name is unreasonable.

You're wanting to play semantics instead of argue the actual issue here, and that's fine, but don't expect me to keep going.

It was made mandatory because of the cold war.

There, you happy that I'm being hyper specific now?

I'm still waiting on you to offer up some kind of argument that supports religion being a part of the government... but I guess that's not what you're here to do.

And ghettocheeze, the country was founded on freedom *from* religion as much as freedom *of* religion. So stop pushing your bogus tripe.

I'm beginning to think that when we're b****ing about this r****ded ****, in regards to history, we're spoiled rotten.

I'm gonna get railed for it, but history tends to repeat itself.

The last great nation that got to the homo issue was Rome.

I think when that becomes your concern, you best have one bad-ass defense. Internet or not, we are shown as spoiled. And with the bubble economy, I fear for much more than "gay rights" right now. I want the SEC and naked shorts to be stopped.

Our grandfathers lived on beans and rice for a decade. Many of them died. They died for us to be as strong as they were.

I see nothing but whiny b****es who still want more.

Our increasing crapulence will result in our demise.

Luckily we have a "hip, cool" president to show for it.

    Dumbass liberals...
