http://www.nba.com/2009/news/features/10/27/lakers.rings2/index.html Wow, those are some awesome blings.
I didn't watch. I couldn't watch. When it was obvious the Lakers were going to win game 5 against the Magic, I turned off the game. For two months I didn't listen to any sportsradio because I didn't want to hear any discussion about the "champion Lakers". For about one month, I didn't visit the NBA Dish. For a long period, I avoided anything on the internet about the NBA. That's how disgusted I was. No way I was going to allow that ring ceremony to ruin opening night. Sometime during the season I'll finally get over the Lakers winning the NBA championship. Not over it just quite yet. Just being honest.
Those actually look pretty good compared to many teams championship rings... too bad it has the Lakers Logo
The fact it's the Lakers is the main reason. I loved Showtime in the 80s, but I have strongly disliked them during the Shaq/Kobe and Kobe eras. The fact the Pau Giveaway put them in the Finals one year and brought them a championship the year after just rubs it in worse. They go from a team that probably would have missed the playoffs to a finalist to a champion because Memphis has the most pathetic owner in the NBA.
Just remember Houston fans, that 4-3 on the side with the NBA logo represents the series where our Rockets scrapped their butts off talking it to the "champs." That's a little consolation at least.
I feel the same way A-3PO, I loved Magic and Kareem, and the 90s Lakers with Jones, Van Exel, Divac, and even Shaq (at times). But, I can't stand Phil Jackson. I didn't even like him with the Bulls. Thought those teams could win without him and I will never acknowledge him as the best Basketball coach ever. In fact, if a discussion does come up, I will conveniently mention a number of college coaches (like Coach K, Bobby Knight, Dean Smith, Jerry Tarkanian, Adolph Rupp, and etc...before I do Phil Jax). I definitely can't stand Kobe. Never liked Pau, even on the Spanish National Team (I hate their team) and Grizzlies. I've always disliked the Grizzlies, though. I loathe Bynum, especially now after him picking on little Aaron Brooks, like the smallest player in the NBA when he was getting owned by Yao, Scola, and Hayes for the entire series. I wish Yao would've stayed health long enough to keep embarrassing and show people he isn't worth 14 million dollars, like a number of other overpaid 7'0 foot , 265 pound centers out there. I don't like Fisher, either, especially after elbow incident. Don't get me started on Sasha Vajay... I usually don't wish bad things on an opposing team, especially if they are competing arduously and going after, never saying die. If one team I didn't like crashed a plane, they would be near the top of list with a Karl Malone team.
I just LOVE those rings!!! If Balfour copied this design or made something similar, it would make a nice class ring!
