Andrew Zimmern show on the Travel Channel is showing the Texas edition. Right now it's featuring Dallas and will go to Houston next. just an FYI.
It's a re-run and it's lame. It's honestly one of the worst Bizarre Foods episodes... I mean seriously - NASA? A better show was when Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations show visited Texas. I think he came here on 2 different episodes - one was a tour of the US Southwest where he ended up eating with Ted Nugent on his "preserve where he kills things" and another episode where he visits the Texas/Mexico border.
It was a bit lame, but eating javelina IS bizarre. And those Big Ass Gorditas in Uvalde really did look good.........granted, don't see myself making that road trip any time soon.
I have not seen the show. Basically, you're supposed to watch him eat the strangest things he can find to see his reaction? My wife suggested this show would be better if he featured weird food, explained how it is good, why the locals eat it, and how the locals use it in their cuisine.
he does do this...the texas episode was not a typical one and although it was texas, it was one of the "worst" episodes.
I guess he ran out of ideas cause his new show is called Bizarre World. IMO the funniest moments in no particular order: - Eats durian in Vietnam (gags) - Eats intestines with **** in Ghana - Eats stinky tofu in China
I saw the one he did in Mexico last week and he does a lot of explanation regarding why locals eat things like crickets, grubs and corn smut. He even does a section about how stuff like that is coming back as nouveau quisine in Mexico City.
