Haha, yeah. Mac really doesn't make any since in a Rondo trade, the pieces just don't match. Maybe Brooks and either Landry or Scola for Rondo and filler would make some since in light of his refusal to sign an extension. I can't see them dying to dump Allen, Pierce or Garnett.
why's everybody dismissing Allen of this debate. He can and will still be a strong force for some time in this league?! man he ca shoot
Just be glad we have a GM who's cautious and thorough in his evaluating. Morey might be capable of making a stupid trade, but he's certainly not *likely* to.
MAN IF A HEALTHY TMAC WENT TO THE CELTICS THAT TEAM WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY STACKED...THERE WONT BE FIRST ROUND BREAKING THROUGH TALKS NO MORE...ITS ALL ABOUT DA TITLE AND DA RING FOR TMAC FROM NOW ON... I hope Rondo demands out of Boston and then we do like a Joe Johnson sign-and-trade for Rondo with the guys we have like Brooks/Dorsey/etc etc I don't see how Boston would want a Tmac to disrupt their team chemistry and think that Tmac would help more than Rondo and Allen half way through the season...
I hope your not referring to this Rondo trade.....cos if we can pull a T-mac for rondo trade that'll be the best trade Morey has ever done in his life... and on other thoughts...Morey comes from the celtics organisation...so he should be able to get the inside hook on the goss in the celtics and get first priority in any offers for celtics trades...and maybe even a discount if hes lucky....
Boston would do it because they would be taking a chance on a 30 year old former superstar coming back strong. And would have a full season to prove it. If TMac failed, no big deal he is off their books, and they figure they are losing Rondo anyway and Ray Allen is as good as gone too. It makes a lot of sense for Boston, and Houston. Thus, I don't believe it will happen. DD
Uh, so has anyone heard anything about this other than the OP? Right from the start I thought he just misheard whatever he believes he heard so I'm not even wasting my time thinking about hypotheticals.
You do that in a heartbeat. However it doesn't make sense at all for the Celtics unless T-Mac is ready to go.
Does anybody have a link from a reliable source mentioning a current trade discussion between the Rockets and Celtics involving Rondo? I checked: Topic: rondo to opt for free agency? Rondo Declines Extension Offseason, trades, rumors and found general chit-chat. If there was a mention of serious talks in regards to a trade between the Celtics and the Rockets involving Rondo, them I missed it.
Well if only we get Ray Allen and Rondo too. But just imagine a healthy Tmac, Aaron Brooks, Paul Pierce, KG, and Perkins starting and Rasheed Wallace, Daniels and Big Baby coming off the bench. A healthy Tmac wouldnt try to score much on the Celtics but he would be their Hedo Turkolu in Orlando.
I believe Tmac is coming back strong and I think that if he does well, Morey would resign Tmac to a reasonable contract and hopefully we can pick up a star during free agency. Imagine if Tmac resigns with this team and he is healthy, Yao comes back strong enough to be effective along with this solid group of players, the Rockets will be back in the contenders category. Let's say we sign a guy like Joe Johnson who would be ideal to sign with the Rockets. Man we would be solid. But I'm just dreaming.
Two things that comes to mind when reading the OP and subsequent replies. 1. Has Rondo's stock dropped so much they're willing to offer him up for the likes of AB and T-Mac? 2. Why are so many people not happy with such a potential trade? IMO if the Rockets get Rondo, for anything short of the whole team, Morey would be GOD. Rondo could literally be the missing piece for us to lure a top FA to the Rockets next year. Who cares if he's overrated or that he'd never be more than a fringe all-star player? The guy's still a huge upgrade over the player we have now.
It sounds like there's a rift between the big 3 (vets) and the younger players. I think it's all to do with KG. In Minny the team was supposedly divided between KG's clique and the rest of the team.
