rondo is a much better passer than brooks (and mind you, boston plays a ton of halfcourt offense). and he's still improving with hs jumpshot. his midrange was very good in the playoffs last year. his 3pt shot still needs work, but yao won't be back for another year.

more importantly, you have a chance at a sure-fire all-star who's YOUNG, IMPROVING, and plays BOTH ENDS, you get him. he fits everything morey is looking for.

and it's not just for rondo. rondo doesn't make mcgrady's money. we would get other pieces in return.

Now, Why would Celtics want Brooks? he is a scorer and they don't need that. They have Pierce, KG, now they added Sheed. They have House off the bench who like to just up shots.

They need a player like Rondo, a guy who can penetrate, play defense and make his teammates better. AB is not the best at doing that. He is a SCORER.

Rondo was arguably the second best player in last year's playoffs. Nobody in their right mind takes AB over him based on basketball alone. Now if you want to factor in reports that Rondo is a headcase then maybe you have a point.

    Rondo's 2009 Playoff stats (14 games):

    PPG: 16.9
    RBP: 9.7
    APG: 9.8

The kid is younger than AB and poised to be a triple-double every single night threat.

This is would be an AWESOME DEAL for the Rockets, I mean...

    TMAC/Brooks

    For

    Allen/Rondo

Trade an injuried star who might or might not be back this season and an nice shoot first point guard.

    for

A proven allstar that is in his last year of contract that pays him 19,766,860.00 who can shoot and a guy who almost avg a triple double and is infintly better defensivly?

UHHHH YEAAAAA Thats a winner as the salary match and trade would work.

now now, don't let DD come in and ruin that with the 41% fg. that's terrible. he got those stats b/c he touched the ball a ton.

but i agree with you, rondo is a stud. if you can give up tracy to get this guy who's only 23, you beg the celtics to do this.

Rondo is-from a basketball playing standpoint- a big upgrade over AB.

Rondo is a threat for triple doubles on any night. That takes alot of hustle and team ball to get that in rebounds (being his height) and assist (team player and good passer) + he can score as well. I just worry about his attitude which is diva-ish it seems and that is what AB isnt.

Maybe they want Lowry? He'll command far less money than Rondo yet plays similarly. Maybe they'd want Landry too, to replace Big Baby. A package of those two guys would command how much?

Honestly, I don't know why they'd want to let Rondo go after what he did in the playoffs.

Rondo is a Triple-Double threat night in and night out. I'd say he's right up there with the elite young PG's after CP3, D-will, D-Rose, D-Harris etc.

As for a deal getting done. I think if Rondo signed an extension and then got traded the Celtics wouldn't have to give up as much (player) as some of us are thinking.

I love AB, but I think it would depend on who we took in contract to match Tmac... since Rondo wouldn't do it on his own... but I'm not opposed to trading AB.

I don't understand why the Celtics have such an issue with Rajon. He doesn't have the perfect personality, but he's not a headcase either. It's very odd... I mean I know of some of the issues he had here at UK but most of them were minor.

3 triple doubles in the playoffs even though is a great accomplishment, does not count as a triple double machine. Good player, but would not fit in.

............why would the celtics implode their team over rondo saying he didn't want to re-sign?

What possible advantage would the celtics see for expiring T-Mac versus expiring Allen? And why Brooks instead of Rondo? Just doesn't make any sense to me. I didn't even consider Allen when I was adding up those Celtic salaries.

True although I could point out that even 41% is higher than AB's career FG percentage. For the record, Rondo's career FG percentage is 48%.

I know we actually agree on this one. What I can't figure out is if some people here overrate AB that much or if they didn't bother to watch Rondo last season and especially in the playoffs.

I root for the swap of AB+Mac <-> Rando+RAllen. Of coz it's a slick deal. We get a serviceable go-to guy in RAllen and great passer and penetrater in Rando.

There's no way the Celtics make that deal. Rajon Rondo is a top 5 point guard in this league right now.

Rondo won't be a scorer.. EVER. He won't ever have a consistent jump shot... at least not like Brooks... I'd rather have Brooks for this team. Brooks is also young and improving... Morey isn't looking for another starting PG (I wish I could hear that coming out of his mouth, but he's implied it pretty much everywhere).

We would get crappy pieces like an old Ray Allen....

If you thought Rafer couldn't shoot, wait till u get a load of teams playing 10 feet off Rondo. He would be a horrible fit playing alongside Yao. Yao needs a 3pt shooting point guard, plain and simple. Rondo needs to play on a young and uptempo team, although he's a moron for not signing an extension now.
