Eh well... based on the overall season of what I've seen, I just feel they've been more consistent... which is the same way the voters from both polls feel. But, I do think it should be a lot closer between the 3 teams, the margins are far too apart right now... but this victory (if it's a blowout) should really bring things together... but yeah then again, it doesn't matter to me if they're ranked 1st, 2nd, or 3rd... I find no reason to brag against a Crimson Tide or Gator fan right now... it'll just make me look stupid if we lose later on.
All 3 have looked shaky at various points. I have no problem with Texas at #3 but there really the idea that both SEC teams have somehow proven themselves to be substantially better simply isnt true. It's pretty close to interchangeable at this point.
I pretty much agree with this. In my mind, you could rank them 1a, 1b, and 1c at this point. I don't think we have enough data (games played) to determine that one team is definitively better than the other two.
All have looked shaky at times. Texas against colorado and Oklahoma, Alabama against South Carolina and Tennessee, and Florida against LSU and Arkansas. Therefore I would base my rankings over wins on quality teams. Texas simply just doesn't have as many as Bama or Florida. Only ranked team that they've beat was a Sam Bradfordless Oklahoma and they only won by 3. Alabama has beaten three ranked teams including a top ten team on a nuetral field site.
haha touche. I made this name before he was a j*zz member!! All my friend called me korver in high school because when i played basketball all i did was shoot threes! typical white mans game
They're better than Alabama. AL can't match points with TX....AL couldn't score a touchdown on TN. I think TX beats AL. FL I'm not sure about.
It'd be a defensive slugfest. Texas couldn't score on Alabama either. I know that Texas has a good Defensive but guess what? Alabama's is better and if you don't believe me then check the rankings because their ranked number 1 team defensively.
If you are going to count Texas's game against Colorado shaky then you most certainly have to include Florida's against Mississippi State as well.
yeah sorry about that. that one just slipped my mind haha. I grew up a huge Texas fan but then I couldn't get in because of grades so now I'm at Alabama. I'm pulling for an Alabama-Texas championship game and I really hope it happens. I just personally think in my honest opinion that Alabama is better than Texas. Our bye week could not come at a better time.
Actually... I think Texas has the better of the defenses in terms of all the stats provided. I would go through and show you, I just have to run in a few minutes, don't have the time... but someone posted it in the "College Football Week 8" thread near the end pages.

That's the problem though. Every team hasn't been consistent. People get short term memory and point to whatever happened last week, but AL has been putting up the points otherwise: Sat, Sep 5 at (7) Virginia Tech W 34-24 Sat, Sep 12 FIU W 40-14 -- Sat, Sep 19 North Texas W 53-7 -- Sat, Sep 26 Arkansas W 35-7 -- Sat, Oct 3 at Kentucky W 38-20 -- Sat, Oct 10 at (20) Mississippi W 22-3 -- Sat, Oct 17 (22) South Carolina W 20-6 It's tough to say whether these teams are having 'off' weeks in close games or if they're indicative of something more.
That was a nice post. I was wrong on that because we got pushed back three spots after the vols game. I knew that Texas offense was better but once again they've really only played one team with an above par defense and that's Oklahoma. McElroy has just struggled the past couple of games and I'm glad that we have our bye week this week so he and Saben can work it and get him back on course again.
I would actually say the Mississippi State game was much more "shaky" than the LSU game. The LSU game was only a 10-point win for Florida, but LSU was never really in that game offensively. Florida played an offensively conservative game against LSU, but they played offensively poor against Mississippi State. There is a difference.
Alabama is capable of putting of points. People just forget about how much better the defenses are in the SEC. Also Tennessee is a rivalry game. They may not be our biggest rival but we sure as hell are their biggest rival.
Alabama has only 2 offensive touchdowns in the past 3 games. Their offense has not been very impressively at all lately.
