Ok, today starts out as a normal day like always. My dad isn't home and I decided I was going to get on his iMac. Well I found a program called "super PC" in his HD, and I clicked it. Soon the screen went black. I became very nervous and walked out of the room. Well, when I came back to check on it, there was a Windows 98 emulator on it!!! So as of right now, I am posting this message on an iMac w/ Windows 98!!!
GAMERS! LEAVE THE HARSH WORLD OF MICROSOFT AND JOIN THE HAPPY WORLD OF APPLES!

Macs have long had Windows emulators.... the question is... Do you want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a Mac to run your Windows software, when you can just buy a Windows machine?

    Good enough for me. :)

I love my G4... the only thing I hate is the fact that everything seems to cost more for the Mac or I end up waiting longer for stuff. Oh, and I still hate the no-button mouse. :D

Apple has superior hardware but has no software.

They screwed the pooch by making it proprietary hardware in the 80s, it is far to late for them now.

The funny thing about software is that I almost NEVER have trouble finding software for the Mac. I mean, if your primary interest is surfing the net, sharing files, word processing or even graphics, etc. there is NO reason that a Mac can't support everything you need.

The biggest market for Macs now seems to be people who are not geeks or even remotely interested in learning the inner workings of a PC - i.e. my dad. He HATED his PC but loves his Mac because it is easy to use and doesn't crash all the time.

For sending emails, surfing the net and writing letters, he's got it made.

I totally understand PC's for certain things. There is no question that there are far more programming and software choices and I'm even at the point where I may have a PC in the future for some things (although, Mrs JB may kick me out of the house. :) ), but if you want to use the major software company software, it really doesn't matter.

On the emulator software, I have Virtual PC but I never use it. The only time in the past I've really used it was to convert Excel files but I'm going to pick up Microsoft Office in a few weeks and I won't need that.

I am going to bear down in the next few weeks and really get a grip on OSX. I mean, no more need to use PC to do PHP and MySql if I have OSX? Thank God! And with Cold Fusion now available for Unix machines and the new Dreamweave MX carbonized for OSX...ah, it's good to own a Mac.

    :D

Excuse me while I bow to the altar that is the great, and special, and wonderful, and awesome MICROSOFT! Now that I'm done worshipping Microsoft, what's this iMAC you're talking about?

*Yes Master, I will by more Microsoft software. . .*

Don't forget that Bill Gates owns nearly 30 percent of Apple. :)

I was at the MacWorld 1996 meeting in Boston when Steve Jobs announced Bill Gates' investment in Apple, followed by a live message from ol' Billyboy on the bigscreen to the assembled thousands of Apple users at the convention.

You should have heard the many catcalls and derisive booing/noises from the Apple afficianados.

I was in our company's lab next to a Mac with a flat screen admiring the beautiful design and thinking...how much more money would Apple have made over the years as a builder of beautiful designer PCs?

Of course then Bill Gates would have to prop up some other company to prove Wintel isn't a monopoly and Mac users wouldn't be able to say that they are "different".

Something else I was wondering...would it have been so bad to have adopted the right mouse button concept years ago?

the biggest reason to not buy a mac is the stupid commercials

"Der, I'm a writer, and I've had a computer for 9 years but I still don't know how to use it...so I bought a Mac"

Oh yeah, it does seem like a big bonus that a computer could come in different colors and everything. lol.

ps2, I in fact stumbled across the biggest secret in the world, having breakfast w/ a rockstar. secret show maybe in Salt Lake tonight. Listen to me, I'm starting to sound like TB. Maybe I should write something dorky like "I love laptops".

Probably not, but I just never really cared. In internet applications, I just hold down the the mouse for a second and it goes fine. However, just so that isn't still a reason...

    From Mac:

<i>Mac OS X offers built-in support for USB mice and keyboards. With a two-button or scroll wheel mouse, you can take advantage of convenient features of the operating system without needing to touch the keyboard. If you prefer a split ergonomic keyboard, just plug it in. You don’t need to install any additional software or configure drivers.</i>

Of course, if you worked in the publishing industry, filmmaking industry, recording industry or in graphic or print design, you and your PC would be out of work. :D
