Because this is the year you have to make a choice, and we have seen enough of Tmac to realize that he is declining and is just not going to stay healthy. Players that are in their 12th year, have a lot of mileage on their knees, backs, legs etc...are not the type to build around. And having two of them....in Yao and Tracy is not acceptable, it is suicide. We can not continue to bang our heads on the "Hope" chest and pray the shooter doesn't roll a 7 because with Yao and Tracy a 7 is almost assured. DD
We did...for 5 years and 7s have been coming up.... At some point you have to walk away and realize the house has an advantage. Or, go broke...which is what you are saying. I say...we are already broke. Walk away and put what is left of your bankroll on a new pair of dice. DD
DD, you KEEP McGrady especially if he is healthy. There is no one who can replace him if he indeed does get healthy. We're not going to sign Wade or Bron.
If someone can start a whack thread like this one then why can't that comparison be made? IF T-Mac is relatively healthy, is still a valuable asset to the team, and doesn't want some ridiculous amount of money then I hope he stays. Go Rockets!!
I'm not happy about it but I think he'll probably be a Rocket next year. I doubt we're going to get anything we want from a trade.
If he plays great this season I'm sure DM would probably want him to stay. But I don't think he'll have another big contract though. Just me...
Easy. Most of those statements that have been made are counterproductive to any type of noteworthy improvement of this team. To trade him will require either multiple players and/or teams unless we luck up and get a Bosh like player. Too many of the proposed trades on here and elsewhere are for players that I still don't understand would make the players that we currently have better. I even wonder how Amar'e would help this team. I don't see him as a playmaker in the way that we need one especially once Yao gets back. As for the salary, I am amazed at how people are stilll thinking that the team will have his entire salary for the acquisition of another player next year. But hey, most of the threads here are tiresome... As a person against trading him, we need to see what he can do for this team and in what ways this team are made better by him. If they are not made better, not necessarily in wins but overall performance, then I won't defend him being on the team anymore. In the meantime, I will enjoy the wins and stress out over the losses as I have done since I was little watching these Rockets.
What value do you think we'd get for T-Mac? I highly doubt we get anything worth while. Is taking on a few contract unloads really beneficial for the team? Is that really good value? I'm not saying we should sit back and let him expire, but to trade T-Mac for the sake of trading is not the right move. You either get some good for him or you keep him. Why take unfavorable contracts just for "value's" sake?
the big problem, is that if we dont get equal value when trading t-mac we wont win in the nba......... so re Signing him under his market value could be the best option if we want to pursue the championship
So what would he be needing? I am willing to put money on it if he dont come back to Houston or is traded he either stays or signs in Chicago. So what would be a reasonable offer assuming he resignes?
I understand that just saying what if he comes back to 07-08 form what would be a reasonable offer i mean certainly we would have the resources to resign him just from his contract alone. I'm guessing 14-15 million is reasonable only if he can get back to atleast that form. 20-21-22 million no thanks, nothing would change and the team would be held hostage.
