There are rumors flying around here that Ewing will be traded in the next 48-72 hours to a Western Conference team. Also, Glen Rice most likely will end up in New York. But now, there is a new wrinkle.

Looks like the Knicks might trade Allan Houston to Atlanta for Mutombo.

Again, my homegirl at Fox Sports Net told me about this just now and it is just rumors. But, the Ewing rumor is hot and heavy and might happen in a couple of days.

Who would the Lakers get? What I liked about Rice signing with Chicago was that the Lakers didn't upgrade -- they just lost Rice for nothing... I hope they don't get the banger they need at PF ...

    OK, here's the deal:
    4-team trade.
    Ewing to Sonics.
    Longley and Rice to NY.
    Dudley to Suns.
    Horace Grant to Lakers.
    Picks and filler as needed.
    Just heard it on CNNSI.
Probably it's posted somewhere else, or reported on some web site. But apparently this will be the real deal.

    It's done....

damnit! Makes the Sonics quite a bit tougher now that they have a genuine center to play alongside Baker! If Baker/Ewing/Payton can play together then the Sonics could be scary!

I personally don't think Ho Grant will help the Lakers much more than AC Green did...

Dudley won't help Phoenix as much as Longley did.

If New York turns around and grabs Mt Mutombo for Houston then they could be very dangerous!

    Seattle got hosed.

Horace Grant will be a much better player now that he isn't playing out of position and he has Shaq to draw double teams and leave him open.

Ewing is gonna have a tougher time playing in the Western conference, as the playing style is much more open and isn't as much of a half-court game as the Eastern conference is.

New York has a dilemma. Rice isn't gonna be content coming off the bench and you can't start him over Latrell or Houston, unless their planning to play with both Spree and Houston in the backcourt.

LA got the best of this deal by plugging the biggest hole in their line-up.

NY did OK, with the two first-rounders, even if they do have a huge hole at center.

Phoenix got rid of Longley and got a first rounder, even if they are saddled with Dudley's huge contract for two years.

    Seattle got hood-winked.

    DrNuegebauer,

Is Mutombo + Max + Rice contribution > Houston + Patrick contribution?

Could the Knicks next step be Allan Houston and Chris Childs for Mutombo?

    Knicks depth chart:

    1 Charlie Ward, (Brunson?)
    2 Spree, Strickland, Max
    3 Rice, LJ
    4 Camby, Thomas
    5 Mutombo, Longley

Not sure if it makes any sense for the Hawks. All the have left at the 5 is Lorenzen Wright. Is there a CBA clause where Stepania could be traded within 48 hours? He fits capwise.

Anyone know how many players the Sonics have under contract now? Last I heard they were bloated with 16 before the trade. I counted 6 players traded for 1. Chuck Person was a sign and trade, so that leaves them with 12 even.

Okay, I forgot about Chuck. For a second I thought they only had 11.

    Nevermind.

I imagine they are still in the market for some IR guys.

As far as the trade goes, good luck Seattle if Ewing is out for an extended period of time with injury.
