    back to the original question:
basketball wise yes I would gasol isnt injured nearly as often as Yao and just as talented offensively

everything else wise: no Yao is too much of a global iconic figure that endears himself not just to the fans of the team but basketball fans worldwide. That sort of person let alone player are super rare to find. He is worth every penny paid to him when he is on the court.

if given a choice of having both players for 3-4 full season for sure i go with Yao but given recent injury history and Yao's size history would dictate that Gasol will actually play more than yao over the next 3-4 seasons.

Gasol is not the type of player you build a team around.

The Rockets would never do this trade. On the other hand, the Lakers would probably do it in a heartbeat.

The lakers just won a title with gasol playing a massive roll. even if yao returns next season he'll be 30 a long history of injuries and with he's humongus frame, more future injuries are a given.

Even if he returns, he probaly wont be anywhere near what he used to b. from here on, gasol>> yao.

Ya we were Lucky to win....4 games to pass the 1st round. I guess it was all luck.

Rockets held a 2-1 in the Reg season. 1 lost on a miracle shot. That was luck.

No way the Lakers would do this trade since they have already won a championship with Gasol being a big part of the reason why. Yao is injury prone, and has mobility/stamina issues. Why would they risk it?

I'd happily pull the trigger. I'm sure that the Fakers wouldn't agree to this trade though.

Yao is just risky due to injuries, not to mention, many people project to be of the Ilgauskas mold when he returns.

That means he will no longer be the best C in the league.

    "No."

    ?
    ?
    ?

Are some people honestly that stupid or are they just so in love with Yao? First off, like many have said before, Gasol is just as gifted offensively, sure we take a hit defensively, but he is also more dynamic and fits adelman better.

Honest to god, the idiocy in this thread transcends mental incapacitation.

Player A plays and avgs close to 20 ppg

    Player B Doesn't play.

    Is it really that hard?

    Houston,dont sign Yao,we want Gasol.LOL

    without KB,Gasol is nothing.
Yao for Gasol, are you kidding me?

NBA or FIBA,compare to Yao,Gasol in nothing. How many Years he has been played in NBA ? except last he played with KB,was there any body been pay attention on this guy before? Was his name mantioned on same level as Yao,Shaq or Howard,Jeffson? If Gasol played the way Yao did,If Gasol got defened the way Yao did get, think he can get 20+,I dont think so.

i agree everything you said but "and just as talented offensively" --- that is not true, gasol is not on the same level with yao offensively, nobody at nowadays NBA is.

Gasol is very very good, however, when Yao is on he is just plain better. What Gasol does is create mismatches at the 4 while being a decent to good post defender that struggles vs. great power/speed.

I don't undervalue Gasol but I would rather have Yao when healthy. Simple as that.
