I would've at least liked to see him with the Rockets this preseason in the new up tempo offense where he could really excel. I guess he was unimpressive over the summer in practices and summer league.
i dont understand all the unconditional love for this guy...he's a scrub, cant make an NBA team, high-flying dunks dont always translate well into the NBA. You guys make me wonder sometimes
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62258/20091021/denver_waives_james_white/# Denver Waives James White The Denver Nuggets have waived guard/forward James White, team Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced Wednesday. White made three appearances for Denver this preseason, averaging 7.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg and 1.00 spg in 14.0 minutes per contest. He registered a team-high-tying 13 points (10-14 FT) in 22 minutes during the preseason opener at Utah on 10/1. The Nuggets roster now stands at 13 players.
Wow... Well, he tried his best and I was actually rooting for him to make the Houston roster but I guess it is what it is... Now he's even waived by Denver. Brutal... Can you say Von Wafer 2.0? He needs to go play overseas to see if he can make things happen.
I was hoping he'd be on this team just so he could compete in the Slam Dunk Contest. Just to see him do a between-the-legs dunk from the free throw line would've been worth a roster spot. I mean, hell, we have Brian Cook on this team.
He was overseas before he came back to the states and the NBADL. I'm not sure what else he's going to be able to prove over there. Hopefully somebody will give the guy another shot - I'm not sure what the heck happened to him with the Nuggets.
It's unfortunate that we don't have room to give some of these guys a better look, but in reality, these fringe players would be stuck on the bench anyway. And while Cook doesn't have much value as a player, his expiring contract could really help the team. White couldn't even stick with a team that had two roster spots available.
