For those of you that care about RB vs GH:
    http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/10/npd-september-ps3-on-top-beatles-beat-cobain/
YTD (from pswii60 at NeoGAF, think these are correct).
    360: ~2.39M
    PS3: ~1.94M
    Wii: (does it matter?)

PS3 SW sales actually look good surprisingly, at least in comparison to 360 sales (specifically Madden and Batman).

I think Halo 3: ODST sold more in a week than Killzone 2 has sold since it was released...so still no Halo-killer I guess, even when the game is good. Not that this means much of anything, but I just wanted to add something else to this post.

Not surprised by the PS3 numbers. The price is where it needs to be and I'll get one for my son for Christmas. Sony should see some blowout holiday numbers.

PS3's increase is expected and a good sign for them. I'm kinda surprised by how high all the the numbers are to be honest.

Wii's quick price cut still put it right in line with PS3's big push. It will likely still have a monster holiday.

I think it more than likely you'll still see the same 'order' among the three systems over Christmas, but the numbers will be much closer than they have been.

These were posted on Twitter...yeah I know. But they seem legit:

    Hmm...he's/she's a Rockets fan.

    Ouch at GT.

    edit:
Not from the Twitter I think, but:
    Motorstorm Arctic Edge >2.6k
Geez...what are the ~15M PSP owners doing with their PSPs? Unless this is just a case of poor sales for racing games (NFS Shift and DIRT 2 did poorly I think).

As an added bonus, top 10 games from 2000-2009:
    1 / Wii Play with Remote (2006) / Wii / 11.1 million
    2 / Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (2007) / PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 / 10.3 million
    3 / Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) / PS2, Xbox/ 9.8 million
    4 / Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) / DS, PS3, Xbox 360 / 8.5 million
    5 / Wii Fit with Balance Board (2008) / Wii / 7.9 million
    6 / Madden NFL 07 (2006) / GC, GBA, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360
7/ Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) / PS2, Xbox
    8 / Madden NFL 08 (2007) / GC, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360,
9 / Call of Duty: World at War (2008) / DS, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii
    10 / Halo 2 (2004) / Xbox

    Could be worse I guess...maybe.

Kind of crazy to see how much Activision has milked GH. GH3 going for 10M+, GH5 doing ~500K.

STICK IT Activision for saying that GH5 outsold Beatles Rock Band in the UK because it's "fun as hell" which I still smell BULL until the UK releases their sales report, if they do have one since they can't claim US sales.....

I thought Call of Duty 4 did 10 million copies. I guess I am wrong.

Sidenote: I wonder how Treyarch ( the other COD5 developers) feels that when its their turn to produce the game , the fanfare is not even half of what Ifinity Ward gets. Its a serious let down .

    Cola,
you notice all those top sellers are games that have strong multiplayer aspects.

Halo ODST has an entire disk of maps. I didn't buy it though. Obviously Madden and Rock Band Beatles are multiplayer.

Maybe Killzone doesn't have that great of a multiplayer portion.

I'm impressed that Marvel Alliance sold pretty well. I like that game, an action game disguised as a dungeon crawler RPG.

Probably shipped...or worldwide numbers. Then again, some of those numbers seem a bit off, even though they were from NPD directly AFAIK.

I'm sure they're pretty happy that they can put out a game, and regardless of quality, it will sell 4M-5M at least. More than any of there other games AFAIK...probably even combined.

(Actually, Activision is probably more so happy than Treyarch.)

Yeah, I don't think that was a problem. Don't think it was bad anyways...probably the best part of the game from what I understand (haven't played it yet, but heard some so-so things about single-player IIRC).

I don't know what the expectations are for that game, but 240K generally isn't very good for a HD game. The other SKUs probably help though. Maybe can get to 500K or something.

And Demon's Souls is definitely the superior action game/dungeon crawler RPG. :)

(though sadly, 240K for it would be way above expectations)

What ever happened to the people who made Baulder's Gate for PS2/Xbox?
that was a good dungeon crawler.

Well, if anyone with a 360 is picking up Borderlands and wants to multiplay it, look me up (Gunslinger57). I should be getting it tomorrow afternoon and everything I've read says that it's a LOT of fun to play as long as you can establish some kind of loot rules since it's basically a free for all.

Snowblind made the first it seems, while Black Isle Studios developed the 2nd (although they might have been involved in both). Snowblind got bought by Time Warner, and their last game was a XBLA game called Death Tank (haven't made much else recently).

Black Isle Studios was part of Interplay, so they eventually got shut down. They made Fallout, Planescape Torment, and a few other games. After the first Fallout IIRC, some of the team left to form Troika (made Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and Arcanum). They eventually got shut down too. A lot of people from both Black Isle and Troika joined Obsidian (Neverwinter Nights, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, etc.).

The problem with NPD data is that it is only 60-65% of retail sales.

GT lacks a career mode and can only race against 3 other cars but Motorstorm is a pretty damn good racing game for the PSP. The graphics are amazing for the little guy. I'm sure glad I skipped out on GT and got the more fun and imo, better racing game.
