It's not a good look to admit you look at it as sexual Bernard, when the rest of it look at it as fighting at it's toughest and nothing else.

"But I think most of those people have chains and masks in their closets..."

    Sincerely,

Maybe he can drop some more racially-insensitive comments like he did before the Calzaghe fight a couple of years ago. Idiot.

It looks like two guys humping on the floor to me. I'm really not a fan of the sport.

    Remains to be seen.

I do know that George Foreman would consistently kill people.

    People, several people, would die...

I'm a boxing and an MMA fan.

I like MMA because you are more likely to see a good fight than you are in boxing, and its more realistic to what you would see in a street fight.

I've had my sister saying I should try and be an MMA fighter after she recently started watching Ultimate Fighter. Funnily enough my response was that I'm not going to do any sport where the idea of training in lying between the legs of some sweaty guy and pushing my head into his chest!

And that's from an MMA fan!

Boxing has so many problems that will never be fixed. You'd need to have one centralized governing body, you'd need to stop fighters ducking each other, you'd need to sort out the million different weight divisions....

Because of that that people have lost interest in everything but the very big events.

With MMA, its a much simpler systems, you have the UFC which is really dominating and therefore gets 99% of the best fighters. They make fights people want to see and their events happen on a regular basis.

Few things match a really top boxing event between two great fighters who are ready to battle. But how often does that happen these days?

In MMA, you don't need the big names as much, you can see great fights between fighters you've never heard of.

Wish boxing wasn't the shadow of itself we see today, where 40+ year old fighters can still dominate, but thats the way it is.

I think thats why MMA is going so well and boxing is struggling.

Boxing just needs to come back to Wild World of Sports
    on ABC

I think the problem is. . .you don't see any free matches
see anyone COME UP unless you DEEP into the seen

Boxing through pay per view has MADE ITSELF into a Niche sport

    Thats a good point.

See I'll buy a boxing PPV but have yet to buy a UFC PPV, though I did watch UFC 100 online thanks to my clutchfans.

One thing I didn't mention was the heavy weight division in boxing being so poor. Even when I was growing up, you still had a lot of heavy weight fighters thats were known world wide.

Now, its a couple of Russians, who are brothers, and outside of that nobody at all.

You have a sick habit of bringing mazyar up EVERY TIME a thread mentions or hints gays.

And I could be wrong. You and mazyar might be very CLOSE friends considering how often you bring him up.

I love your BB talk but this part of you really sucks.

Do you even know the reasons all these people hint the "mazyar and gays" thing? Just wondering if you read THAT thread. It's not just him. I, for one, stopped joking a while back... mazyar is now just helping with a few jokes about that too; I know he knows we're not serious with this... it's all in HANGOUT fun, man. Relax.

Exactly. If anything, Boxing is killing itself. Only time boxing has free matches are when ESPN Friday Night Fights is on or the monthly boxing events on telemundo. For boxing to come back, it needs some prime time TV exposure like MMA does.

How do you stop fighters from ducking each other? MMA fighters aren't strangers to ducking each other either. As for the weight divisions, I think its needed. Those 5-10 pounds between weight divisions make a huge difference.
I think it has much more to do with how boxers are being promoted. For boxing, this year has had many good fights. Just a couple weeks ago, Juan Manuel Lopez fought in a Fight of the Year candidate match on PPV but hardly anyone saw it. Its a shame because even the purest MMA fan whoh hates Boxing would appreciate that fight.

If you're talking big boxing events, then you had both Manny and Floyd already fight this year, plus Manny still has his mega fight with Cotto. But if you also want to add matches with great fighters, you can start with the recent Super Six tournament, the Juan Diaz/Marquez battle and numerous other bouts that involved top fighters.

Same thing with boxing. Except the big difference here is that you hardly get to see those fights because options to view boxing are limited.

How many 40 year olds are dominant? Dominant is a strong word, I wouldn't even use that. My point being, the quality boxing matches are there. its just a matter of getting those fights out there where more people can see and appreciate. Most of the mega fights that could happen, already and will happen. The only big mega fight yet to muster up is the Manny vs Floyd fight. Then again, that would be equivalent to a Brock vs Fedor fight and that has yet to happen either. And I'm sure we'll have a more definite answer on that fight once the Manny-Cotto fight settles.
